I also made sure things in the lobby were cleaned and ready for opening the facility and that all sets of keys are where they need to be. I addressed whatever issues that arose with expedience, and thoroughly tried to resolve them immediately, or give them a name and a time frame of when they could expect a resolution to become available.

I was asked to translate several IEP meetings for Hispanic students with special needs as well. I handled each students and family with respect and grace. I enjoyed meeting the families of the students I worked with, and making connections, and building relationships with them.

I answered the telephone in Spanish and scheduled appointments for Saturdays when it was convenient for the clients to come in, and I had several over the phone conference calls on Sunday afternoons as well; to make changes to policies, or open or cancel policies. I also spent time filing, or sending out paperwork that was not completed during the week.

I worked as a part of a team that divided housekeeping duties up for the hotel on each floor. I loved being part of the team. I cleaned rooms, and made the guests feel welcome. I was not, however; formally trained to be a front desk agent at the time. I spoke Spanish with Hispanic guests, and even my (long forgotten) German once with an elderly couple who came to visit their grandchildren.

LEADERSHIP

When I was an employee at Kohl’s I was given the responsibility of counting down the cash drawers at the end of the night, and was in charge of making sure all monies were accounted for. I enjoyed that and was also in charge of the Customer service department frequently and had to make unilateral decisions; if needed, on a refund or exchange that came into the store, in order to maintain the GREAT customer service standard, I had for myself and for the business. I was looked to for help from the new employees, and some of the long term employees who were not as knowledgeable with the cash register, and helped frequently with training new employees. I loved being part of a team that relied on one another, and helped in whatever way needed. I took the initiative to avail myself as Hispanic customers came in and spoke to them in Spanish immediately, and was a valued member and leader of a resolution to serve all in the community as a part of the team at Kohl’s.
