Improved procedures for Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable to minimize reliance on short-term credit facility. Used Microsoft Dynamics GP, Peach Tree, Microsoft Office, ADP payroll and a proprietary customer relationship management system. Coordinated several state tax audits and maintained banking relationships.

February, 2001 – April, 2003, iviewit.com LLC, Controller for a start-up company monetizing a video download technology. Set up company accounting in QuickBooks to provide financial information satisfactory to investors. Managed all accounting and related functions. Oversaw the winding down and eventual dissolution of the company.
May, 1997 – October, 2000, Crown Sanitary Supply, Inc., janitorial supply distributor. Controller / CFO, brought in by their CPA to consultant on a botched conversion to an industry specific software package. Fired the Controller and the IT person. Took over both jobs and went from being the worst installation of that system, Stanpak to being their beta and demonstration site. Worked with the general manager to stabilize the company’s finances and condition it for sale.
April, 1992 – May, 1997, Magna Properties, Inc., retail land sales company. Controller while the company was transitioning from a contract for deed model to title and mortgage sales. Accounting in AccPac for three sales companies, two country clubs, a construction company and a water utility.
September, 1985 – April, 1992, August Urbanek Investments / Commercial Management Corp. real estate investment, management and development company. Controller / Director of Development, started by automating hand done accounting using a CPA write up system and Lotus spreadsheet program to satisfy the requirements of outside investors and provide internal controls. Established management procedures for a multistate shopping portfolio. Oversaw remodeling of shopping centers and a mixed use project. Restructured the portfolio to focus on passive real estate investments through tax deferred property exchanges.

May, 1980 – June, 1984, Menard, Inc., French specialty construction company. Administrative Manager. In addition to accounting, worked in project management and sales.
May, 1975 – May, 1980, Reed Stenhouse, Canadian based commercial insurance broker. Branch Financial Manager. Oversaw the integration of onsite data processing and procedures to reduce the company’s reliance on paper. Worked on establishing the company’s United Stated headquarters in New York City and was on the corporate accounting and data processing committees.
