Scrubs in to assist Surgeons in cesarean section delivery. Sets up instrument in order of use with proper aseptic techniques. Maintains sterile field and made sure other members of the surgical team does the same.

Assists in patient positioning. Performs smooth instrument counts. Gown and glove the Surgeons.

Observe "Time out".

Anticipates the surgeon's needs to enhance a smooth and successful surgery.

Cleans the instruments after use with sterile water and enzymatic spray solution to ensure proper decontamination which starts at the point of use.

Turns over the room for another case and making sure instruments and equipment are in good working condition.

I also assist the nurses in vaginal room delivery by making sure patients are positioned properly.

Scrub in and assist surgeons during Cesarean Sectional deliveries by setting up tables applying aseptic techniques, Setting up the operating room equipment and correct supplies relevant to the procedure, Counting instruments and supplies with the circulating nurse as at when due. Assist in cleaning them up after delivery and put instruments and placenta away to be either discarded or sent to pathology according to Doctor's order.

I also do Glucose control testing and check patients glucose levels as needed and some other patient care needs like vital signs, passing water and ice and making sure they are safe and comfortable as directed by the charge nurse supervisor.

The last but not the least is the secretary requirements of this position, answering telephone call and door bell that rings off the hook. Preparing mother and baby armbands and making charts ready if the unit secretary is not on duty.

My significant accomplishments are numerous, but I am happy that I can do a "start" C- section. Work under pressure.

I can multitask, use one hand to cut stitches for the doctor and the other still assisting the doctor either suctioning out fluids or retracting and holding down organs or surgical lights so the Doctor can see.

Another is my ability to learn and know that each doctor is unique and does their things differently, so I am able to satisfy or meet their expectations by strictly following their preference cards, providing them with their individualized supplies for surgery and anticipating their needs, even making recommendations that help alleviate stress during surgery.
