Senior Litigation Specialist

Responsibilities include:

Management of complex professional liability claims brought against public entities under New Jersey Title 59, including Employment Practice, Sexual Harassment, Discrimination, Wrongful Termination, Public Official claims, and all claims dealing with Civil Right Violations.

Current pending of approximately 125 claims. In addition, have presently assumed a managerial role due to a vacancy and am responsible for the review and assignment of all new claims. Works closely with the claims team to assure that the claims are handled properly and to assure the member and/or claimants are treated fairly and with respect.

Recommends and approves initial reserves and investigation strategies.

Works directly with the excess carriers and attends nearly all mediations and arbitrations on cases under my management.

Recommends and utilizes various alternate disputes methods to settle cases fairly and accurately.

Works diligently and effectively with outside counsel and sets effective litigation management protocols on all assigned cases.

Key participant of the Employment Practices Liability committee for the joint insurance fund.

Works closely with the accounting department and the underwriting department to assure recovery of funds from the excess carriers.

Works with the underwriting department and assists with various coverage endorsements that require state approval and filings.

Supervision of the General Liability and Title 59 Unit consisting of five claims representatives, a claim assistant, and a clerical person.

Responsible for the daily monitoring and reviewing of Commercial General Liability, Auto and Title 59 claim files.

Handled claims for specific complex accounts with a pending of approximately 250 claims. The files included various lines of coverage.
