Hello direct is a telecommunications catalog company. My position started as a floor call center customer service sales rep on an inbound 800 line. I was one of five associates in this startup company which was extremely busy averaging 200 calls a day. The goal was to turn each call into a sale with a two to one call ratio which I was able to achieve. This job required the ability to determine the customer's needs match them with the appropriate products and ensure that the product will not be returned. This job also required the ability to provide technical support and extensive knowledge of 100s of different products and the ability to memorize part numbers was an extreme Plus in this rapidly growing start up company. When I left Hello direct 6 years later to start my own business I had become a team leader with 5 CCRs under my direction and the only person on the entire floor without a bachelors degree and the youngest on the call center floor with now over 20 employees. I started it at ACS Communications when I was in high school doing time cards 2 hours a day for the production manager. I then worked my way to the receiving department where I received headsets for repair and then proceeded to be one of four customer service representatives in the office. I handled incoming calls for my region and international calls from Canada. The company downsized and laid off all of the customer service department except for myself. I was then responsible for the entire United States as well as Canada for 6 months. Then they hired two additional associates that I mentored and trained and supervised.
