FUNCTIONAL EXPERIENCE:
Service Writing:
• Ability to successfully interact with customers to determine specific service requirements.
• Uses technical experience as mechanic to explain charges, fees, and discounts to customers for required services; works with Mechanics/Technicians to provide advice on required service.
• Maintains computerized records of mechanical repairs and job costs.
• Experience processing night drop service tickets and preparing end-of-day paperwork.
• Made recommendations, scheduled appointments, recorded services sold, entered into computer system. Used customer service skills to troubleshoot and resolve issues as required. Automotive Service/Mechanics:
• Capable of performing all facets of automobile repair, from minor maintenance to complex diagnosis and repair. Has performed general preventative maintenance, including brake replacement, transmission flushes, tire repair and replacement, heating and cooling systems, etc.
• Experience interacting with Service Writers and Managers on a daily basis to ensure customers are properly advised of required repairs.
• In-depth knowledge of tasks required to complete pre-delivery inspections (PDIs) for a large volume of new vehicles ordered by dealership. Conducted preliminary overview of used vehicles (trade ins and auction purchases) and suggested repairs to Toyota-certify vehicle for re-sale.
• Knowledgeable of computer systems and preparation of sales tickets.
• Assisted other mechanics and teams in all facets of automobile repair and maintenance. Performed engine diagnostics and repair, brake replacement, and other preventative maintenance tasks. Also performed pre-delivery inspections.
Management:
• Able to complete inventory management tasks, to include placing orders for shop supplies (lubricants, fluids, antifreeze, filters, tires, etc.).
• Has worked with vendors to arrange trailer pickups for scrap tires.
• Fixed shop tools and equipment as required.
• Experience working with Parts Departments to ensure required parts are in stock or ordered. Other Mechanical Experience:
• Experience repairing commercial paint equipment. Diagnosed mechanical and electrical problems, interacted with customers to discuss options and obtain approval, and ordered parts. Maintained inventory of spare parts, etc. Also interacted with equipment manufacturers to troubleshoot problem equipment. Supported warehouse personnel when required.
• Depaneled, repaired, inspected, and maintained USAF A-10 Thunderbolt aircraft. Customer Service/Sales:
