RESEARCH WORK:
Worked on Forest fire risk zonation in Pauri Garhwal district of Uttarakhand using high resolution LISS IV sensor under the title
“Forest fire Risk Zonation- A case study in Pauri Garhwal, Uttarakhand”.
A project work of one month in Forest Research Institute on Sericulture under the title “Sericulture Management”. Knowledge in the field Survey:
1. Spatial data collection using GPS and DGPS. (Boundary, Road, stream, wells, vegetation, villages, terrain etc)
2. Socio-economic data collection. (Population, farmers, Literate/illiterate, sources of income, farmland, women, children, reasons for low incomeand productivity, domestic animals (milk production), Effect on wildlife. 3. Type of crop grown and productivity.
4. Cost-benefit analysis in agricultural land.
5. Irrigation type and cost, plowing, pesticides used, seed purchase, labourcost, harvesting techniques, packing, marketing, transportation, mandi charges, return to farmers.
6. Type of land, type of vegetation.
7. Type of soil, organic matter, soil profile, water sample collection. 8. Calculation of area and volume of lakes etc.
9. Collection of spatial data using DGPS/GPS such as point data (certain land marks such as road crossings, bridge corner and other land features)line data
(road, river etc.), Polygon data (field, settlement, pond, etc.). Collection of non- spatial data from various sources such as government departments etc. 10. Collection of ground truthing data.
