View ISOs and models. Design and lay out a route for pipe according to these. Measure and draw out ISOs for said plan.
Fill out and go through daily JSA's with the crew as well as fill out a daily production report. Cut, clean and bevel pipe.
Fit appropriate fittings for the welders to make their welds. Install piping. Usually involving rigging with hoists and or cranes. Often utilizing man lifts and scissor lifts to reach our intended spot.
Assure all supports are properly placed. U bolts are straight, secure and double nutted. Wear pads installed when necessary.
Upon completion of installation, and welds are complete, QC the work. Assuring the customer receives a top quality finished product.
As lead man of my group, I was responsible for seeing the job went smoothly. And was completed by deadline.
I often coordinated with other contractors, with scheduling and equipment usage. I also coordinated frequently with the mill employees and supervisors to assure we were installing in a good place for them. And I was not in the way of other things that had to go in the same route. Upon job completion, write a detailed production report for the project manager and be prepared to answer for any delays in production.
I am also certified to run all the equipment we used, therefore I often doubled as an operator, when necessary.
