• Worked in various coding and auditing roles at Sharp Healthcare over the course of 24 + years.
• Initial coding experience with Sharp Chula Vista Medical Center. Began coding with outpatient lab accounts, emergency room, obstetrics and newborns and ambulatory surgery/observation and advanced to inpatient coder III. Coded CPT on inpatient surgical accounts, including neurosurgery (brain and spine), as well as validating IC & IR chargemaster codes and charges. Also coded Sharp Mary Birch Patrick skilled nursing accounts.
• Moved to Sharp Metropolitan Campus to code trauma, transplants (heart and kidney), critical care, obstetrics, gyn oncology, and NICU/Newborns. Coding also included hepatic ultrafiltration cases from Sharp Coronado, as well as physical rehabilitation.
• Accepted lead coder position at SCVMC for brief duration of 2 years. Have one year and a half formal auditing experience in ICD 9 CM and 10 CM/PCS. Performed chart review (7 years) and training of contract coders to Sharp’s system requirements.
