As a Lead Advocate, I provide in-person and telephone assistance, information, and guidance to parents regarding special education procedures or human service systems procedures. Assist in public information and education activities with presentations to various organizations and professional groups. Assist in data collection for evaluation, reports, and other diverse reporting tasks. Establish and maintain a vital, collaborative working relationship with local education agencies, regional education service centers, community social service providers, local healthcare providers, institutions of higher learning, and family groups. Present approved workshops on educational topics such as increasing meaningful parental involvement in school, the least restrictive environment, IEP development, communication skills, assessments, or grade-level expectations. Supervise other staff in the absence of the Executive and Assistant Director and supervise the Education Advocacy Team directly. Meet with Special Education Directors for the schools we have MOU's with. I am also the contact person for all of our center's Community Service Outreach Events that we attend or organize.

I am also required to produce the following deliverables of my contract:

Technical assistance, training, and professional development for parents and educators regarding IDEA that must include; One parent educator conference, full day; At least one workshop on the IEP; at least one workshop on adolescent transition;

oAnd could also include: One-on-one technical assistance; webinars/teleconferences; maintain IDEA resources for families.

oProvide support to families and members of the disability community that could include; one-on-one with individual families; case conferences; discipline hearings and participation on IDEA task forces; IEP support, teleconferences; assist in the completion of surveys.

Promote LaCAN and Partners in Policymaking Class to parents and self-advocates.
