I am currently seeking a position in the legal field where most of my working experience prior to owning my own business was formed. The majority of my experience has been in a legal assistant position where I used my skills to make my employer’s job easier. My computer skills are average but I am dependable, can take shorthand, type at approximately 80 words a minute accurately and willing to learn.

After leaving school my working experience has been in the legal field. I have worked in Michigan, where I am originally from, Ohio, California and Tennessee. My current experience comes from owning and operating a franchise with my spouse. My responsibilities included customer service, writing invoices and preparing quotes, production, sales tax filings, IRS filings, accounts receivable and payable and payroll functions. We recently decided to close the business mostly due to COVID related employee issues. Prior to opening PIP Printing I worked for Perkins Family Restaurants in their home office in Memphis Tennessee in the legal department. I was responsible for correspondence, follow up on franchisee relationships and making sure the service marks, trademarks etc., were kept current. I left Perkins to open the PIP franchise. After moving to Tennessee and before Perkins I worked for Griffin, Clift, Burns, Smith a local law firm in East Memphis. I worked in litigation for Robert Burns. I worked there until I joined Perkins. I answered the telephone, screened calls, prepared pleadings, wrote correspondence, kept a calendar and followed up on the work for my boss. While living in Capistrano Beach, California I worked for a law firm that was located in Leisure World, Mission Viejo, California. My responsibilities were estate planning, preparing Last Wills and Testaments, preparing documents for filing with the Probate court when the estates were opened and related issues. I left California to move to Memphis, Tennessee due to husband’s employment.

Prior to moving to California I worked for law firms in Michigan and Ohio. I also assisted my husband with his paperwork during his tenure as a sales representative, regional manager and finally vice president of sales at a Fortune 200 company related to managing his sales people.
