PROJECTS & TECHNIQUES
Master of Science - Project on "Isolation, Characterization and Elucidation of Metabolite by Mutated Fungi: Aergispllus ochraceus."
Research method & techniques: Production of mutant fungi by inducing UV radiation; production of new metabolite by the mutant fungi by TLC chromatography, mass spectrometry, infrared spectroscopy, and nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy; determination of antioxidating activity by DPPH method; determination of antihemolytic activity and antimicrobial activity by zone of inhibition (minimum inhibitory concentration)
Results: Identify bioactive metabolites produced by mutated fungi: Aergispllus ochraceus
Master of Philosophy - Project on "Studies of plant growth promoting activity of an Endophytic bacterial culture isolated from Ficus Religiosa."
Problem statement: Invent a bacterial fertilizer as a plant growth promoter, specifically for rice plants grown in drought persistent regions or during minimal/no water availability
Research techniques: Qualitative and quantitative analysis to isolate genomic DNA of FrS42, a bacterial strain that promotes plant growth by utilizing Gel Isolation technique; isolation of endophyte and ectophyte (Phyto hormones) to promote plant growth; develop mechanisms of phosphate solubilization through utilizing techniques mediated by organic acid, carbon dioxide, H2S and enzymes
Results: Invented plant growth promoting “Rizo” bacteria (also known as PGPR)
