Hello

I was taught to always enter into a job interview by clearly stating that I want the job. To talk about myself as if I already had the position; that the decision had already been made (in my favor), and to conduct myself

accordingly.

This advice came to me from my maternal grandfather. His God given name was Elio, which was “Americanized” to Leo in his early life. He lived a hard life, born color blind, he lied to be able to enlist into US armed forces. He was taken as a prisoner of war in the Philippines and was awarded several medals and accolades for enduring the unending abuse of his captivity for months, until his rescue. He left the army a decorated young man with no skills.

He sat for a civil service exam, aced it and began working as a postal carrier in upstate NY. In short order he began climbing through the postal hierarchy, married my beautiful grandmother, had children(one of who is my mother), and by the time I arrived on the scene, he had been retired from his position of Postmaster of New York for years.

This is the stock that I come from. I am a hard, diligent, loyal worker. I have a unique skill set that I will bring to any position I step into. I am able to multitask, critically thinking through situations that will arise. I have been a patient/ customer advocate since stepping into the workforce. I will defend in the search of what is right, not what is convenient. I believe in inclusivity, and will take those first steps to engage and open up the lines of communication. I will be an asset to your company.
