My military service of 18 years coupled with 23 years’ experience in private-public healthcare sectors makes me a suitable candidate to perform multiple jobs aptly in any healthcare industry. I have got extensive experience of designing, planning, setting-up and managing Clinical Labs and Phlebotomy Centers in many public and private hospitals/healthcare facilities. I have been providing services in all sections of Pathology including Clinical Microbiology, Biochemistry, immunology, Haematology, Blood Bank, and PCR Lab besides infection control and prevention services. I worked as Head of Hospital Laboratory & Director PGME Pathology as well as Chair Infection Control and Prevention Committee at French Medical Institute for Mothers and Children (FMIC) Kabul Afghanistan, managed by Aga Khan University Karachi, for more than 10 years.
I completed my training in Pathology from Armed Forces Institute of Pathology (AFIP)/ Armed Forces Post Graduate Medical Institute (AFPGMI) Pakistan. I also got MCPS in Clinical Pathology in 1986. I completed residency training in Pathology
(including Microbiology & Parasitology) at AFIP/AFPGMI and got M. Phil degree in Pathology from Quaid-eAzam University Islamabad in 1994. I have been working as Pathologist cum Microbiologist and Head of Department in various clinical laboratories of public as well as private sectors since 1986. I have got extensive experience of administration and management of laboratory services. I have been teaching Pathology, Microbiology, Parasitology and Laboratory Medicine to undergraduate and post-graduate students. I was involved in making teaching plans & taught BSc Med Lab Technology, medical/dental students of various medical/dental colleges & Pathology residents. I am very meticulous and skilled to deal with diverse student populations, both national & international.

Scope of Work: Summary of activities performed as Pathologist/Microbiologist/Head of Clinical Lab: Provision of services in Clinical Pathology including Microbiology, Haematology, Biochemistry, Molecular Pathology, Blood Bank & Serology.
1) Day-to-day supervision of diagnostic methods and examination of specimens and accurately read and interpret the results of laboratory tests.
2) Perform procedures for quality control, quality assurance and quality improvement within the department, including taking part in all relevant external quality assurance programs. 3) Perform microbiological, haematological, serological and biochemical examinations on clinical and environmental specimens for the detection and identification of microbial agents of disease; identify microorganisms to the genus and species level; perform serological tests to aid in diagnosis of communicable and other diseases; interpret antibiotic sensitivity testing on various bacterial isolates. 4) Guide about collection & analysis of lab data; enter, retrieve & process computer generated lab reports. 5) Keep records, prepare and update written reports and procedure manuals. Acting as custodian of data. 6) Provide highly technical and complex information clearly to physicians, medical personnel & the public. 7) Able to assist in research, planning & evaluation of alternate methods & new testing procedures. 8) Review and follow current literature to maintain state-of-the-art methodology and technologies in the field of clinical pathology including clinical microbiology, haematology, serology and biochemistry. 9) Business planning, assessment & introduction of new methods, planning for staff & equipment needs. 10) Liaison with clinicians/hospital staff about the diagnosis/management of patients & prevention of infection. 11) Implementing medical audit program within the department & participating in clinical audit. 12) Advising on hospital policies for antibiotic and disinfectant use and infection control. 13) To carry out appropriate research in clinical laboratory related fields. Summary of activities performed as a Faculty of Pathology/Microbiology & Lab Medicine: Provide education/training to PGME residents of Clinical Pathology, plus all related educational activities. 1) Ensuring training & mentoring activities/teaching courses for Medical Laboratory Technology students. 2) Prepare/deliver lectures to the medical/dental students in the subject of Pathology & Clinical Microbiology. 3) Make purposeful & appropriate lesson plans that provide effective teaching strategies for students. 4) Evaluate all the students within his/her teaching assignment. Provide progress reports as required. 5) Establish and maintain cooperative relationships with other staff members. 6) Evaluate accomplishments of students on a regular basis using multiple assessment methods such as class tests and assignments respecting the confidentiality of records and information. 7) Continue professional growth through attendance at workshops, seminars & conferences. 8) Help the administration in planning appropriate in-service training programs. 9) Make weekly program for curricular activities and conduct & supervise practical training of students of Medical Laboratory Technology. Also monitor the ongoing curriculum revision process. 10) Fulfill continuing medical educational necessities; participate in clinical programs & conferences.
