4G TECHNOLOGIES, Bedford, TX 08/2004 – 01/2014
Owner/Head of Research & Development
Company created to design, manufacture, and sell a 2000 point Sequence of Events Recorder (SER).
Manage the electrical design and all software development while other engineers design the hardware.
Application software is written in C and C++ and the software runs on Freescale 8260 using a real time OS (OS9).
The Human Machine Interface (HMI) is through a web server sitting on top of the OS, and delivered 80 units throughout the world. All of the HMI was accomplished using Java, HTML, and JavaScript.
Responsible for electrical design (size, power, memory, speed, etc.), software design (from OS and drivers to application), electrical implementation (pc board design through operation), and software.
A major part of the software design and code was completed on a PC before the hardware was completed.
OS9’s Hawk utilities were used to edit, compile and debug the firmware.
The total system is embedded design. This was use to speed up the boot process and eliminate the need for hard drives in a dirty environment.
OS9 is a small high speed kernel derived from UNIX, which can use the UNIX open source applications.
ECONOLITE, Anaheim, CA 05/2005 – 11/2007
Senior Software Engineer
Ported a traffic controller application program from Vxworks OS to OS9, using C/C++.
OS9’s Hawk utilities were used to edit, compile and debug the firmware.
