Volunteer Coordinator
In my role as the volunteer coordinator for At Home Care Hospice I had the opportunity to recruit, train, manage and retain over eighty volunteers. I also built lasting volunteer programs, developed company policy and ensured compliance with Medicare requirements. I established a internship program with Virginia Commonwealth University and supervised multiple semesters of undergraduate student intern groups. I also developed an externship program for student nurses and managed opportunities for them to serve our hospice families while gaining experience in the field. The students and volunteers that I managed played a crucial role in the organization’s success and the support for hospice patients and their families.

Director of Children, Youth and Programming Ministries
My responsibilities included modeling Christian behaviors, researching and selecting curriculum, and training volunteers to work with youth and children. I was also responsible for planning and executing multiple fundraising events to allow for mission trips and educational events not in the church budget. These events included organizing and staffing a pumpkin patch and a Christmas dinner theater. I coordinated and lead five youth service mission trips to locations including Toronto, Canada and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Each summer I led Vacation Bible School as well as coordinated a day camp for 75+ children and youth and 35 adult volunteers. I planned Youth Sunday annually along with preparing and delivering a children’s message during church every Sunday. I was also involved in teaching Senior High Sunday School and the Confirmation Class and served on the Evangelism and Care committees. I organized monthly Wednesday night dinners including planning the programming and hiring the caterer and selecting the meals.

I involved the youth group in total ministry of the church including coordination of Wednesday “after-school” programs and yearly Youth Sundays and Vacation Bible Schools. I led the Youth committee and planned all events and activities to promote spiritual growth, fellowship and fun. I served as a source of encouragement and a counselor for the youth. I coordinated several mission trips a year including two trips to Toronto, Canada and five trips to Eagle Eyrie in Lynchburg. I was also responsible for preparing bulletins and newsletters and gave the children’s sermons and announcements during Sunday service.

I was responsible for modeling Christian behavior, selecting curriculum for youth programs, training volunteers to work with youth, teaching all youth bible studies and providing coordination and supervision for youth programs and special events. I also directed the youth Christmas play and JAM sessions (Jesus, Arts, Music). I also participated in the weekly church service by reading scripture and delivering children’s messages. I was a resource person for the youth Sunday school and I planned and led at least two youth missions trips a year. As the office manager (1999-2000) my responsibilities included preparing the weekly church bulletins, monthly newsletters and quarterly business reports. I also directed phone calls, assisted the Pastor and other staff, updated and maintained the congregation membership database on the church computer system and performed multiple other tasks as needed. I took this position to help the church while they were in the process of finding a new office manager.

As Director, I coordinated all children’s programs including recruiting, training, and providing ongoing staff support for approximately 35 volunteer Sunday school teachers, I also selected all curriculum and chaired the children’s council and the curriculum committee. I was also responsible for hiring, training and managing all nursery workers and established and implemented standard nursery policies. I was responsible for the curriculum, recruitment, and coordination of Vacation Bible School including over 100 volunteers and children evenly split from the church and the wider community. I also coordinated several special events including a fourth to sixth grade club as well as several special programs for lent and advent, as well as the Christmas Eve service and children’s musical events.
