Activities performed:
o Supervise all the civil works carried out by Sub-Contractor Julius Berger and other sub-Contractors either local or from South Africa.
o Was charged with the QA/QC of the works, the planning of the works with cost control analysis and as contract manager responsible for all the acceptance of materials, quantity executed, analysis of claim posed by Sub Contractors.
o Safety aspects of the civil works of the project have been followed by my supervision of the progress following courses of safety awareness, special training to construct nearby Flares, gas lines and crude oil lines.
o Civil works were including the construction of a wharf on steel piles, 76 cm in diameter and 45-60 m in length driven into sand silty, clay soils and deposit of gravely sand and silt. QA/QC has been an important aspect of the construction with severe tests for acceptance and specific tests for the electrical part and components with tests on corrosion of materials and cathodes protection of metal structures.
o Reports on production, quality of the works done, reports on approved material to incorporate in the CV-Team Leader S. Resident Engineer- Maurizio Paolucci works and recording of NCR, Quality test Control were also part of the duty of the Supervisor of civil infrastructures.

Activities performed:
o Project with a small amount of works 3.5 km approximately, but all running in soft soi and high-water table. The water table was at -50 CM from the Original Ground Level, and all precautions have been done to prevent future settlements or dissection of part of the works. Large use of geo-textile, filter layer, 15” down crushed material in suitable thickness has been adopted overrunning the quantity foreseen in the project. The works has been completed in due time as per Contract Documents, small amounts in overrun of the amounts have been certified due to saving in other works and ancillary works modified in due time during construction. o Conditions of soft soil with permanent static level of sea water table very close to the existing surface; o Limited high of embankment has been designed also to avoid excess in weight. Settlements either mid-terms or long terms have been avoided by using the following package in the pavement below subgrade, from down to top: Geotextile

o Project classified as ancient and historic road with monumental old structures, for these reasons the design review has been difficult for the site conditions and for the unteachable locations restricted with destructive changes.
o Study conducted based on actual condition of the pavement with substantial improvements adopted without intervene either in vertical or horizontal alignments. Particular attention and due care have been placed on the evaluation on catchment mountains areas for the existing pipe culverts, box culvert and bridges studying the most suitable solution for their improvements without compromise their ancient status and appearance. The design review prepared has been positively evaluated against other proposal by other Consulting engineers with satisfaction of the Company who charged me for the works.

o technical evaluation and proposal for swamp’s areas crossed by the road-works in the Pungue River delta and swamps adjacent the new works, with analysis of claim posed by Contractor and cost impact for new proposal to cross the river with viaduct in part of the river extension. o extensive geo investigations have been made with a campaign of SPT, test on sampling every two m, for all the extension of the river and adjacent swamps. o analysis/comparison either Technical or Financial for three proposals to cross the swamps with a solution compatible with time to foresee and cost estimate for new structures; alternatives in all Metal Arch Pipes of Large Section, Part Viaduct and part Metal Arch pipes, Rock fill and settlement evaluation and recording, with control of reflowing of materials and swelling of clay soil during severe rainy seasons.
o A t the end has been choose the solution of a viaduct on the main river crossing for a length of 2 km, external approaches to the viaduct have been realized with Arch Pipe Culverts, posed and assembled CV-Team Leader S. Resident Engineer- Maurizio Paolucci on rock fill, filter layer with geo-textile on top, and grouted rip rap between culverts above flood levels.
