Social Emotional Learning Specialist
North East ISD
Modeled and practiced with teachers on how to utilize Conscious Discipline strategies and techniques in order for students to acquire SEL skills.
Created and presented targeted staff development to teachers district-wide as well as provided resources that improved instructional practices.
Formally coached and collaborated with teachers to foster their understanding of Conscious Discipline principles, which helped improve student behaviors. Developed and led Beginner and Advanced monthly cohorts designed to teach SEL language, songs, behavior techniques, and strategies to early childhood teachers. School Counselor

Designed and delivered developmentally appropriate guidance lessons to elementary students that focused on interpersonal effectiveness, problem solving, cultural awareness, self-esteem, motivation to achieve, responsible behavior, and communication skills. Provided small group and individual counseling to students needing support in the areas of: Divorce/Family changes, Friendship/Getting Along with Others, Military Deployment, Managing and Coping with Grief, Making Appropriate Behavior Choices, Understanding Feelings, and Improving Work/Study Habits. Coordinated Tier 3 RTI meetings, various benevolence projects that helped the community, planned Red Ribbon Week and Generation TX week activities, put on a school-wide Career Day with guest speakers, and assisted with STAAR coordination/planning.
Presented information to staff on The 40 Developmental Assets, Suicide, Bullying, and Child Abuse/Jenna's Law.

Consulted with teachers, parents, and students in order to assess the academic and social/emotional needs of students. From this data small group and individual counseling sessions were conducted. Coordinated with local area business volunteers and high school students to serve as mentors for at-risk students.
