As a skilled clinical supervisor/ case manager I offer a unique set of qualities that empower supervisees to enhance their clinical skills, build confidence, and deliver exceptional patient care. I've been lucky enough as a leader within my professional work, accumulated applied clinical hours certifications on .y free time and guidance through the development process from program directors. Here are the things I would consider to be important as a member of your team!
• Empathy fueled Supportive Approach:
An exceptional clinical supervisor understands the challenges faced by supervisees and approaches them with empathy and support.
• By creating a safe and nurturing environment, it encourages open communication, allowing supervisees to share their concerns and vulnerabilities without fear of judgment. Overcoming these concerns and vulnerabilities improves their life and the ability to help others. Meanwhile supporting team bonding and building rapport and trust with one another. Applied skill set: It's not just about clinical practice. It's about the entire package. Being willing to share the success you have had and help them find their own in and out of the office!
• By utilizing my highly effective
communication skills which i believe is the ‘cornerstone of successful clinical supervision,” A skilled supervisor actively listens, provides constructive feedback, and clearly articulates expectations and goals. I do this by asking for feedback from supervisees in effort to understand their needs. They can feel open to addressing any questions or concerns.
• I Implement active listening techniques during sessions, and use clear and concise language to convey feedback.
• Cultivating a Reflective Practice:
As an enthusiastic supervisor, encourage supervisees to engage in reflective practice, helping them deepen their understanding of their therapeutic work. By asking thought-provoking questions, they can foster critical thinking, leading to improved self- awareness and clinical insight.
• Setting best standards of practice by example, while Incorporating reflective exercises, such as journaling or case studies, to encourage self-exploration and critical analysis.
• Being flexible and Adaptable:
Every supervisee is unique, with varying learning styles and needs. A great clinical supervisor recognizes this and adapts their approach to cater to individual strengths and challenges. I offer flexibility in their guidance, allowing room for supervisees to explore their preferred therapeutic approach while providing gentle guidance when necessary.
• I tailor my supervision sessions to accommodate individual learning preferences and acknowledge diverse therapeutic approaches. If they take interest in an area where they nay be lacking and connect them to a colleague that excels in that area. This can mentor how important networking can be.
• Commitment to my own professional development
Applied Practice: I Attend workshops, seminars, or conferences regularly to enhance knowledge and skills, and share insights with supervisees.
Maintaining a healthy balance between constructive feedback and praise. By encouraging their achievements and providing specific feedback on areas that need improvement. By acknowledging progress and offering guidance thereby motivates others to strive for excellence. Putting into Practice: Providing timely feedback that focuses on strengths and areas for growth, with actionable steps for improvement and measurable and achievable goals. My own goals as a clinical supervisor:
Fostering a supportive learning environment, nurturing growth, and cultivating excellence in mental health professionals. Empathy, strong communication, reflective practice, adaptability, My own commitment to learning, and a balanced approach to feedback are crucial components to a successful clinical supervision experience. By embodying these qualities and consistently putting them into practice, I can empower the strengths of supervisees to become competent and compassionate mental health practitioners, positively impacting the lives of their clients. Ability to thrive in clinical-crisis settings, (ITA) secured units, and Correctional institutions. utilizing non- violent interventions (CPI), introducing grounding Techniques, trauma-informed and patient centered care are paramount, and oftentimes become more customizable. I am a " take action," and not " freeze" type personality. Working with Individuals that our at their most vulnerable state require patience and support. The areas I am most skilled at. Both
in Psychiatric secured and mid level secuirty Correctional institutions. These populations are often left falling through the cracks. inmates recieving re-entry and reintegration services need additional funding.
I have had a hand at one in particular:
The JAG Program Development was the answer.
Washington State
Department of Corrections or DOC
Is a stepping stone into how correspondence with community services like Peer support collaboration; acting as a "warm hand off partner" to our individual inmates in their County of Origin was crucial. SECURUS DATABASE My method of communication from inmate (client) and peer support was through a costly communication portal connected to ipads in their pods. the only way to make contact with those in prison was through SECURUS.
Their name was never used when building resource-support plans and while incarcerted in WCC-RC prison in Shelton, WA each message back and forth 2 dollars each way, after purchasing "stamps."
" PUTTING IN THE FOOT WORK CAN MEAN MANY DIFFFERENT THINGS TO MANY SEPERATE AGENCIES." So far I had written the basic guidlines and terminology/ Glossary attributed to Criminogenic factors, Correctional institutions and judicial matters like sentencing to better familiarize the JAG team with the
(Justice Assistance Grant) knowledge on The criminal corrections system. Preparations for a teams initial Prison facility visit at the Shelton, WA's at WCC-RC correctional; was prepping the JAG team with the ins and outs of Criminalogical theory, Juvenile Delinquency, Where Substance abuse and property crime intercede.
Probations, Criminal victimization, Criminal Justice data, sentencing criteria and disparities.. Preparation and managing The JAG Program/ Grant passed by congress so that people like me can work on the "outside" for those stuck on the inside. Before hiring me they had already proposed this grant and been approved. I was there to iron out the preparation phase for prison visit# 1.
WCC-RC SHELTON PRISON
This JAG PROGRAM has already BEEN PASSED, FUNDED and greatly improved. Approximately 35 inmates just on my own roster, and only using their DOC #s (Department of corrections) COUNTY OF ORIGIN AND SECURUS COMMUNICATION DATABASE FOR INMATE COORESPING: I was able to set up free food, housing and
Clothes for the Work-Release program and bus ticket home. BRIDGING THE GAP THE MOST IMPORTANT
RESTORATIVE RESOURCE BY PAIRING THEM WITH A PEER SUPPORT PROGRAM IN THEIR COUNTY. I started working in securities back in 2004 security clearance check in desk, Trained as a security officer, and mobile security. I am now able to visit prison with the WCC-RC Correctional institutions with a security clearance level II and am very familiar with protocols, standards needed and expected within all WCC and WCC-RC Correctional institutions: IE: Prison, Jail and juvenile dentention centers awaiting hearing, court related delays and trial updates etc.

• Then would follow up in two to three weeks for any updates, expectations, questions and concerns.
• I would also will continue providing necessary support options and suggestions aimed and centeredon continuous support of the clients quality of life and so the provider may improve their own self care and their teams productivity and job fulfillment while combatting "burnout." Housing Support Specialist: True Blood Jail re entry Lifeline Connections-Vancouver, WA
January 2023 to July 2023
As a Housing Support Specialist I managed the Trueblood Blood vs DSHS lawsuit challenging unconstitutional delays in competency restoration. This housing and social services Program, first implemented at Triplex of three units for male residents only is where we started. On call ready for any emergencies or concerns. The True blood program helps individuals who are detained in city and county jails awaiting a competency evaluation or restoration services, and individuals who have previously received competency evaluation and restoration services, who are released and at-risk for re-arrest or re- institutionalization.
• True blood vs DSHS (True-blood) is an active lawsuit challenging unconstitutional delays in competency evaluation and restoration services.
• As a result of this case, the state has been ordered to provide court-ordered competency evaluations within 14 days and competency restoration services within seven days. This settlement agreement aims to resolve the contempt of court resulting from the True blood lawsuit by creating a plan delivering an array of services for class members and potential class members. Services included:
• The expansion of residential mental health with crisis services; additional training for jail staff and law enforcement; hiring additional forensic evaluators and more mental health professionals to educate courts about the availability of supports that could meet the needs of individuals who have to wait in jail for evaluation and restoration services.
• Performed initial screening for level of behavioral support needed (performing housing assessments) for potential tenants for our TrueBlood Triplex
• Interviewing them to see if they will be a good candidate.
• Attending and facilitating household repairs and maintenance orders.
• These clients are generally referred to to me by LLC competency restoration department and must fit a very specific criteria.
• Coordinated with their peer support team.
• Accountability measures such as random UA's and walk throughs unannounced.
• These are clean and sober recovery residences with all the case management services needed by client.
• It is a stepping stone to increase resilience and self efficiency after being released from a Correctional institution.
• Established and maintained relationships with other community agencies and organizations to meet community needs and avoid duplication of services.
• Provided direct service and support to individuals and clients, such as handling referral for supportive treatment and services issues, conducting needs evaluation, and resolving complaints.
