Business Systems Analyst II/Scrum Master

GEICO Insurance Company (Employee) July 2010 – December 2022

- Agile Scrum Master on a Digital Claims project, where the claim was processed down a digital path, tasks were identified to add required data to allow the claim to continue down a digital path when the data is obtained. Once the claim could not continue down a digital path, it would assign to a claim’s specialist. The Digital Claims project collapsed the number of specialist types that could be assigned. I was the scrum master during this project working on Azure DevOps.

- Senior Systems Analyst on a Questionable Claims Activity project, where a data set was sent to a data science black box solution. The data was evaluated for risk factors in the black box solution to determine a claim was questionable and if the claim should be paid without further research. I coordinated the EDI data mapping with the data scientists and participated in the data science feature discussion to provide the needed data. Part way through the project, I became the Agile scrum master of the team during this project. The project saved $50 million dollars in the first year of operations. I earned a Safe Scrum Master 4.0 certification during this project.

- Senior Systems Analyst on an insurance data warehouse project, information sent in near real time to a third-party data warehouse. The ISO responded with a data set comprising the history of the insurance information of the vehicles and parties involved in the accidents. I helped triage the system when the messages were held up, insuring outgoing and incoming messages are properly processed.

- Senior Systems Analyst on an Automatic Bill Pay project that allowed for qualifying medical bills received to be analyzed, sent to a third-party medical bill analysis service. Based on updates received from the third-party medical bill analysis service, the medical bills would either be auto paid or sent to an in-house medical specialist to be reviewed and worked.

- Senior Systems Analyst and Agile Scrum Master writing Business Requirements Documents (BRD) and Functional Requirements Documents (FRD on an Easy Estimate project that allowed qualifying customers to open a claim and submit the required photos. The process would be reviewed by automobile damage personnel, the in-house personnel could approve the vehicle for repair and the claim for payment. I prepared the use cases, flow and wire frame diagrams that allowed the developers in understanding the needs of the project. This Easy Estimate functionality later became a much-needed process during the Covid ‘working from home,’ when the company was trying to protect personnel and customers. As a Scrum Master and analyst, I worked with the team to set development/test iterations, and consolidated fixes and modifications requests into the upcoming iterations in JIRA.

- Senior Systems Analyst writing Business Requirements Documents (BRD) and Functional Requirements Documents (FRD) on a Salvage Rewrite phases I & II, including establishing data communications with a third-party salvage partner. This allowed the salvage functionality to be retired off the mainframe solution and placed on a web-tiered solution. I worked with the salvage partner to produce data mapping documents outlining the information being sent in the messages. I tested functionality in integration and user acceptance environments, and insured EDI messages with the salvage partner were sent received and processed as expected.
