I am an experienced Registered Nurse that is licensed in North Dakota. I have been working in the healthcare field for 30+ years (I was a candy striper at ages 11 and 12). I worked in CNA roles for 9 years prior to nursing school. Those 9 years were primarily spent assisting adults with developmental disabilities. I have 14 years as an Licensed Practical Nurse and 7 years as an RN.
I have worked mainly in rural areas of South East North Dakota. I bring up my time in rural North Dakota to emphasize that as an LPN in rural facilities I was in leadership and independent roles. Very independent roles such as being the only nurse in family practice satellite clinics and performing clinic duties; X-ray, lab draws with prepping labs for transport, and assist with scheduling, answering phones, and manage all medication including samples. I have lots of experience working with people of all ages, special needs and developmental capabilities.
I have experience with the pediatric population during my time in the family practice clinics. However, I have 3 years of working with the Pediatrician in Jamestown whom treated patient’s special needs, as she was the medical director of Anne Carlson School. We had a Medical Home program and I served as the Medical Coordinator.
I feel I would be a great fit for the Nurse Navigator position. I bring a lot of experience, skills and am very personable with my patients, parents and coworkers. I am presently taking a Medical Coding and Billing course which will also be an asset in a navigation position.
