Position Duties: Lead in the planning and implementation for the management of 36 developed recreation sites situated along two signature rivers for a 256,000-acre Ranger District in the Nantahala National Forest. The recreation program for the Nantahala is a combination of the old Wayah and Highlands Ranger Districts in western North Carolina. The district recreation program includes management and oversight of two wilderness areas, a wild and scenic river: the Chattooga, a recreation river: the Nantahala, two campground concessions permits, a large outfitter and guide program, multiple fee sites, a scenic byway, two shooting ranges, a 20 person lodge, an OHV system: 27 miles, and around 400 miles of trails. Position Duties: Assists in the planning and implementation for the management of 36 developed recreation sites situated along two signature rivers for two Ranger Districts on the Mark Twain National Forest. The recreation program is centered along two rivers: the Current River and the nationally designated Eleven Point River. Duties include supervision of seasonal workforce, concessionaires, and campground hosts; recreation planning; O & M implementation; O&G administration, sign management; procurement, forest protection officer, collections and contract administration; database management and administrative facility maintenance for two offices. Served as acting Recreation Staff Officer as needed and requested. Communications & Supervision - Responsible for the supervision of YCC, seasonal recreation aides, and older American program participants in the recreation program, as well as overseeing campground hosts, volunteers, and concessionaires.
● Oversee the special use permit associated with the operation of four developed campgrounds under a concessionaire permit.

This included the development of proper signing for transportation routes and internally within the developed recreation sites and along the river sites. This was completed for district signs. I have set priorities for the district and maintain the sign plan.
● Assisted in the development of the initial design narratives for the $1.3 million renovation of 5 developed recreation areas along the Current and Eleven Point Rivers. This included undertaking an assessment process that required working with our outfitter guides and concessionaires as well as internally with the agency at the Forest and Regional level. Assists in the review of the completed plans as it relates to water systems, electrical, and facilities to ensure meeting public and Forest Plan direction.
● Assisted and implemented the replacement of restroom facilities in the district. We have replaced 18 toilets in the district in the past three years. My involvement included site evaluations, determination of the proper CXT toilets, and oversight of installation.
● Assisted and implemented while working with the Forest Landscape Architect in the development of an accessibility plan for recreation facilities.
● Assisted in the completion of two National Recreation Surveys for the Mark Twain National Forest. This included conducting surveys with the public as designated areas within the zone recreation sites.
● Assisted in the development and implementation of the Forest master facility plan through the reduction of recreation facilities to reduce overall deferred maintenance costs. This included the development of strategies for not only removing sites but also recognizing the upgrades to existing sites needed in the future to provide for public demand.
Recreation O&M – Responsible for the planning and completion of O&M recreation maintenance. Provide maintenance at developed campgrounds, dispersed recreation sites, boat landings, day-use areas, interpretive and historic areas, and float camps along the river. This includes site furniture repair and replacement, water system repair and maintenance, maintaining transportation systems within developed recreation areas, facility repair, and construction, basic cleaning, and mowing, sign replacement, fee collections, etc.

Position Duties: Assists in the planning and implementation of the management of the prescribed and wildland fire program for the Redbird Ranger District in the Daniel Boone National Forest. The Redbird is situated in southeastern Kentucky and is notorious in the fire world for the fall fire season. The fire program manages multiple wildland fires as well as plans and implements thousands of acres of prescribed fuel treatments. Duties include supervision of seasonal workforce, inmate workers, and district fire crew; fire planning and implementation; equipment maintenance and management; forest protection officer, database data entry, and information management.
Communications and Supervision - Provide fire and leadership training for the district fire crew. Communicate the staffing levels and schedule for the district fire-qualified staff. Lead and directed fire staff in the preparations and implementation of burns as well as directed staff on wildland fires.

Position Duties: Managed and directed the operations for a highly complex full service recreation area. Piney Campground is a 384 site full service Campground. The facility infrastructure includes a Gate house staffed 24 hours a day, a camp store and rental outpost, three shower houses, four toilet buildings, three lift stations and wells, one sewage treatment plant, a fishing pier, two boat launch ramps, seven camping cabins, approximately 50 full service sites, 210 electric sites, and 120 primitive sites. The manager is responsible for the recruiting, interviewing and hiring of a permanent GS-05 assistant manager, a campground apprentice, and two seasonal interpretive interns. Additionally, seven resident attendant couples (Hosts) are hired for the operation of the camp store and 24 hour gatehouse. Plan and manage a $650,000 Operations and Maintenance budget. Purchase goods and supplies for operations and for Store resale inventory as well as reconcile through PCMS. Work as a COTR inspector for a 5 million dollar maintenance contract. Prepare special use permits for annual campers fair as well as the seasonal camping program. Communication and Supervision-
● Plan and implement Good Host training program for the Campground hosts in coordination with the other facility managers, human resource specialist, Law Enforcement, and Recreation Specialist.
● Supervise a GS4/5 assistant manager, an apprentice and two interpretive interns while they perform weekly environmental education and recreation programs for the campground.
● Act as a facility inspector for a large area maintenance contract.
● Perform customer service while registering campers, performing visitor compliance and policy notification.
