Professional Experience
Criminal Justice Student Intern Children’s Advocacy Network Alexandria, LA
I attended meetings related to child trafficking care coordination along with multidisciplinary team partners. During these meetings, my responsibilities included documenting updates and discussions, and taking and reporting attendance.
I monitored forensic interviews of children and youth who shared their experiences of child abuse, neglect, and human trafficking.
Occasionally, I participated in monthly multidisciplinary team case review meetings where we discussed case updates. For child trafficking cases, I was responsible for documenting case updates and providing them to the team.
I developed a survey for multidisciplinary team partners that evaluates the effectiveness of the agency’s child trafficking care coordination process and care coordination team. This included researching effective survey strategies and meeting with my supervisor for ongoing modifications. Once completed, I presented the survey, its goals, my process, and plans going forward to the Cenla Child Trafficking Task Force.
I met with supervisors for weekly supervision.
I networked with multidisciplinary team partners such as Louisiana State Police, Federal Bureau Investigators, Local Law Enforcement, and Department of Children and Family Service workers to improve my understanding of each discipline and their respective roles.
I created a community resource list for the Cenla area by compiling all relevant community agencies utilized by the agency. The goal is to eventually gather all agencies for training on human trafficking. I participated in virtual trainings on human trafficking and forensic interviewing.
