Modis is a corporation that prides itself on hiring extremely capable consultants to work at their client sites. For 2 years I was assigned to AFS (Automated Financial Systems) as a Senior Technical Programmer.

AFS ‘focus was converting financial organizations to work within their software referred to as “VISION.” VISION was programmed to execute banks’ online and reporting systems. Banks converted from mainframe parallels to distributive system using Micro Focus Cobol, Vsam and DB2. All programs and libraries were transmitted to distributed systems using FTP and CLOUD processing. SQL Server, ORACLE, LINUX and PUDDY were used in the distributive systems. My responsibilities using DEVOPS as a SDLC development practice, were to follow instructions from JIRA management tool, to modify mainframe programs, test and promote to distributive system where parallel testing occurred. I was also responsible for converting customer bank data by creating transaction data to load SQL tables.

Endeavor used for mainframe source management.

I applied fixes to production source code or enhancements when required. Endeavor was used retrieve elements from production, make changes to elements, adding or updating elements into test environment for compiling and unit testing.

Using a BASE system for a new bank, copy all BASE JCL, PROGRAMS, UTILITIES, PARM LIBS, etc., to a mainframe PDS and modify all that applies to conform to the standards of the new bank.

During conversion of various banks, using JIRA requirements test modification on the mainframe and FTP programs to the Micro Focus Distributed system in LINUX for distributed unit testing. This would include any modifications made to JCL, Programs, utilities and parm libs converted from BASE system. Both unit, integrated and migration testing were used before programs moved to production environments.

Using Oracle Developer created SQL statements required to review updated tables updated in loading process.

Using subversion software, created databases, and tables set up to load data to be reviewed in ACCESS.

Attended all Jira meetings, reporting on progress for all responsibilities during defined requirements.

Report to project managers all updates verbally and using Jira Comments.

Worked with Business Analysts for all testing verification.

Participated in dry runs and dress rehearsals before final conversion of banks. This endeavor required a 2am start time which lasted 12 hours.

Lead Team in a major history conversion project. The conversion team had three members. My management responsibilities were to modify existing systems to conform to all new bank standards, modify programs by cloning modifications made for other banks, test JCL and verify program results. Set up step by step execution with other members’ projects and led them to final stages that not only created desired reports, but also zipped output to move to drive for FTP transmission. I also created job scripts for each member and worked with them to update script with their procedures. I updated Jira with conversion progress and reported progress to the Director of project.

FEDERAL RESERVE BANK OF PHILADELPHIA Senior Technical Specialist

All Federal Reserve Systems in the country were using their own version of programs batch and online for Cash Letter System. This system processed paper checks through sorters which created Vsam files containing check transactions. The Vsam data was used to update IMS tables. The online system relied on the daily update of IMS tables to determine if a Cash Letter was complete and could be transmitted. We were tasked to rewrite and redesign the batch and online CLS system to allow all FRBs execute from same version of the programs. This involved modifying code to unit/ SQA test and production support on all converted systems. Unit integrated and migration testing was used before programs moved to production environments. . This system was written in Cobol, IMS, CICS and Vsam.

As a team member participated in the consolidation of all Federal Reserve Banks in the country. After conversion lead the effort to maintain the Cash Letter System for Federal Reserve Banks throughout the country. I was responsible for all modifications, testing and implementation of changes to the system. Modifications were made using Cobol, IMS and VSAM.

Through Batch File Mapping, created procedures to map files for FTP transmissions.

Aided in the conversion was the Check 21 systems which was a Paperless Entry Processing system for all Reserve Banks, which allowed check images to be processed. The Cash Letter System was modified to accept data into the CLS payment system using input from Check 21 system, FEDWIRE and ACH File processing (used to electronically send and receive funds in a batch environment), FTP transmissions were used to send data to servers controlled by various banks. I continued to maintain and lead all projects that were used to maintain the CLS system. After 8 years of support and maintenance of the IMS system, CLS was taken off the mainframe and rewritten on a distribution platform created by IBM. I worked with IBM as an advisor to help them understand the CLS system.

Lead the process to maintain the Treasury Control System written in IMS DB/DC and DB2. The maintenance was done remotely and in Philadelphia Federal Reserve office.

Participated in a lead role in a three-year multi-phase effort to design a process written in Cobol to warehouse Treasury Payment data from the mainframe IMS DBDC environment into tables accessed in Oracle. This data was used to feed the Post Payment Processing System. Millions of records were transmitted (FTP) into the Post Payment Process Servers. In design met with client community to identify what data would be selected and eliminated to create warehouse data in the tables designed in Oracle.

Participated in the Treasury disaster recovery procedures for all test and production systems. Converted DB 2 to recent processing versions; version 6 to 7, and 7 to 8. The conversions consisted of modifying and parallel test of all OSJCL job streams, and programs in test and production libraries.

I trained in SharePoint and created a SharePoint POC (Proof of Concept) duplicating a Cold Fusion online application which was the system used for the environment. This helped users build a confidence level with SharePoint that was becoming a standard in the environment.

Using SQL-SERVER’s report writer software (SSRS), lead effort to design and code all new report programs that could interface with a SharePoint online system. The data was converted from ACCESS to DB2 before utilized to populate the cash reports.

Transferred in 2013 to the PPS (Post Payment System). I was responsible for the creation of the Web Focus team and was responsible for the development of 200 reports in WEBFOCUS interfacing with Oracle Developer.

Since 2007 all utilities and Job Control have operated under a Z/OS environment.

Created and technically managed Web Focus team that would be responsible for the design, programming and implementation of all reports generated from Oracle tables. The SDLC approach to endeavors was a combination of DEVOPS, and Waterfall.

Assist with the gathering of report requirements for new reports and the conversion of reports already in mainframe production environment.

Converted 100 report programs written for Bank Fraud system that was originally written in Web Focus with an HTML menu into a more structured user friendly, maintainable system allowing the input of parameters to access database information to populate the Web Focus reports.

Design and developed over 200 programs in Using Info Assist, and CSS(Cascading Style Sheets). Programs included parameter driven menus, drilldowns, and detail summarization with minor and grand total generation.
