In my career I have designed for manufacturing and assembly; more than 200 API tanks, more than 320 heat exchangers, a large number of pressure vessels and columns. I have designed tanks of 17500 mt3 (110 MBBLS). 70-ton heat exchangers, 2112, 1” OD tubes, Columns over 30 meters high. I have worked on equipment assembly in the field, crane movements in 100-ton towers, horizontal equipment, skids and compressors. Manufacturing of; Isometrics, staked equipment, furnaces, chimneys, ladders, platforms, light and heavy boilermarking, gearboxes, reciprocating pumps, rocker arms. Handling of measuring instruments. No destructive test. I have participated many times in obtaining the ASME U and R stamp, and in the renewal of the stamp every three years in the workshops with the ASME stamp. During these first years of my professional training I learned about the concept of ASME standards, the great responsibility that the manufacture or repair of this equipment represented for the oil industry or industry in general, I learned about welding according to ASME IX, AWS, how they are made the WPS welding procedure specification with its PQR, I strengthened my knowledge about materials since I used a lot the ASME II and ASTM standards for the approval of materials for use, including the different types of electrodes. We also received engineering from other foreign companies from different parts of the world, such as American, French, German, Japanese, Italian, etc. to do equipment manufacturing. It should be noted that AFCA at this time did not use computers of any type or model, everything was done on paper and pencil, including manufacturing drawings and mechanical calculations.
