Achievements:

Created 12 new work instructions for the Receiving Department to follow to standardize the processes and methods used within the department. This increased efficiencies and reduced errors and cost by creating an accepted best practice in performing regular repetitive assigned tasks.

Identified accuracy and safety issues with the way bulk resin and solvent tanks were unloaded and measured. I rewrote the existing Work Instructions for unloading to include several additional per-checks. I also requested new Tank sensors to our 7 tanks that did not have them and 5 were replaced with the last 2 scheduled. All the measuring tapes in the solvent tank farm were inspected and checked for accuracy with 7 of 11 being replaced.

Created overflow storage lanes in Receiving RM Dock for other departments to use to stage material that was not finished yet or access and their department had no room for. This gave the other departments extra room to operate safer and more efficient.

Took over the raw material expiration list and reduced the list from 121 to 24 while working with the QC department to recertify or scrap old stock. Being able to use these prior quarantined materials saved money as many are used in very small quantities but must be purchased in large quantity.

PPG Industries, Oak Creek, WI April 2013 – July 2014

Using PPG’s Procedures follow set guidelines to manufacture paint, resin and other related products to be used in the automotive and home building industries in large bulk quantities of 5,000 to 50,000 gallons.

Follow a written Batch Ticket, combining proper quantities of raw materials together and providing QC samples to create in spec finished goods that are repackaged and labeled as a finished goods.

Handle toxic and harmful chemicals in a safe and accurate manner while mixing chemicals together.

Clean and maintain all equipment to insure product is not exposed to any contamination

Operate multiple types of fork trucks, hoists and other moving equipment to process batches

Achievements:

Helped identify a scale issue with overflow resin build up. Helped build an overflow pit under the scale that allowed for quick easy clean up eliminating wasted down time while keeping the scale accurate.

Trained two new shift leaders on how to evaluate situations getting direct input from all team members and then thinking outside the box to come up with better ways to correct issues. This type of teamwork promoted and a positive atmosphere where everyone was appreciated for their contributions and valued for their differences.
