Nov 2006 to Present – Human Resources Manager, Terra Core Group Inc. and Cabo Drilling Corp. Terra Core Inc.(formally Cabo Group Companies) is an international contracting services company with divisions in Ontario, Newfoundland, United States, Colombia, and Albania. Reporting to the President and CEO, provide leadership, strategic direction and advice on human resources and employee relations matters company-wide including partnering with division management to develop strategies to meet day-to-day business needs. Provide leadership to divisional HR and OHS staff, on HR business plans, compensation plans, job design, full cycle recruitment, succession planning, foreign deployments, training and development, performance management, recognition programs, disability management, compliance, and policy and procedure development and implementation. Manage and conduct workplace investigations related to policy infractions and provide advice to management balancing risks and outcomes. Achievements:

Developed, implemented, and updated Human Resources Policies and Procedures, Compensation Programs, and Occupational Health, Safety and Environmental Policies and Procedures, across four acquired companies.

Spearheaded and drove extensive recruitment campaigns and workforce planning exercises through major up cycles including work authorizations into USA, Canada, and Central America supporting company growth.

Managed favourable outcomes on multiple complex employment and safety related legal matters. Nov. 1999 to Sept 2006 - Human Resources Management Consultant, Grand River Hospital - Kitchener, Ontario. Grand River Hospital is Ontario’s largest multisite community hospital and cancer treatment center (2,400 employees). Reporting to the Chief Human Resources Officer, provided leadership to HR Assistant, and supported related to human resources policies, collective agreement provisions, benefits and leave provisions, and specialized support in Employee Assistance Programs, Attendance Management Programs, Attendance Recognition Programs, and Disability Management across two hospitals and four collective agreements. Built and maintained affective relationships with unions representatives, chaired two labour-management accommodation committees, participated in grievances, prepared for arbitrations, led WCB appeals and hearings, and maintained liaisons with insurance carriers. Achievements:

Developed “Spectrum of Health Program”, and implemented “Attendance Recognition Program” and Employee Assistance Program (EAP) across acute and chronic care facility.

Decreases in average sick days, STD/LTD/WCB cases, NEER costs, attendance/accommodation grievances, and decrease in overall disability costs – $4.0 million dollar annual cost item (e.g. $1.8 million in sick time). 1990 to 1999 - Personnel and Safety Manager, N.Morrisette/Boart Longyear Inc. - Haileybury & North Bay, Ontario. Boart Longyear is an international equipment manufacturer and contract drilling company servicing the international mining and mining exploration industry (1,850 employees in 1998). Started as a Safety and Training Supervisor travelling extensively (70%) for seven years to exploration projects, mines, and company branches providing field hr generalist support, safety support, and skills auditing, then to a manager providing leadership to a WCB Administrator, employment supervisors, field safety trainers, and plant OHS supervisors. Achievements:

Under guidance of VP of Human Resources, introduced revised company-wide human resources policies, compensation and benefit programs, RRSP program, and OHS program to all staff and hourly personnel with “Boart and Longyear” Canadian merger.

Researched upstream issues and implemented outcomes of a “Towards Excellence” organization change initiative.

Spearheaded introduction of Skills Behaviour Based Safety Program and NOIS program, and inter-company consulting on HR matters, product improvements, and Canadian-US Boart Longyear merger. EDUCATION
