Work with school Districts in the area of General Supervision, compliance, and monitoring of the 40th, 80th, 120th End of Year data reporting periods, to ensure compliance with Education Performance Plans (EPPS), provide general supervision and technical assistance to school district and parents to ensures compliance with Federal and State rules pertaining to the Individuals with Disabilities Act (IDEA) for all children with disabilities. Coordinate, facilitate and schedule professional development for the Mediators and Facilitators (Facilitated Individualized Education Program - FIEP). I make sure that mediation/FIEPs are available to all parents and school districts, in addition to providing training and guidance to the mediators and facilitators, in coordinating and scheduling mediations/facilitations, professional development and billing requirements. Address concerns and short comings of the mediators and facilitators by addressing concerns/issues and collaborating with ways to correct the problems/issues within the FIEP/Mediation process/performance through professional training and developing additional knowledge and skills. Draft the Request for Applications (RFAs) for both groups. Review and monitor the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) Applications submitted by the Local Education Agencies for completeness and accuracy according to budgetary guidelines. As the Parent Liaison for the Special Education Bureau, I provide technical assistance, information and options to parents in helping them work through disputed issues between the parent and the school district. Represented NMPED-SEB in the NMDDPC, Guardianship Advisory Counsel, in planning and implementation of programs involving the developmentally disabled population.
