ECHO TECHNICIAN

• In-Patient and Out-Patient routine and emergency echocardiograms

• Perform 2-D, M-mode, color Doppler, pulsed wave Doppler, and continuous wave Doppler. This includes all measurements as needed for a complete study.

• Echocardiographic imaging as indicated under skills as well as special procedures

• Prepare preliminary reports for review and interpretation by cardiologist

• Experience in capturing images using mobile equipment in operating rooms, emergency rooms and patients’ bedsides

• Applying and positioned patients and echo equipment to take images following set parameters

• Educating patients on procedure details, provided instructions and answered questions to minimize anxiety and improve cooperation

• Upholding legal standards, HIPAA requirements and facility guidelines by obtaining written consent and securing patient information

• Specializing in operating echo equipment, calibrated settings and adjusted controls to obtain accurate scans

• Submission of written reports, verbal summaries, photographs and recordings to physicians to support accurate medical decision making

Applies critical thinking skills to assess the patient condition to provide any additional views that will assist the cardiologist in the care/treatment of the patient.
