Provide Consulting services for DirecTV’s latest project launching 90+ new LCF
(Local Collection Facilities) cities throughout the continental US. Duties include
pre-commissioning MPEG2 systems, Harmonic and Thomson, at the NTC (integration
contractor) facility in Glendale, CA. Pre-commissioning duties include software
upgrades, configuring MPEG system, troubleshooting System alarms, verifying
video/audio quality, staging of LAN/WAN components, including Cisco Catalyst and
MultiTech RasFinder products. After the pre-staging is complete, commissioning is
performed on site at the LCF locations. Commissioning duties include the verification
of the MPEG system configuration, performing a SAT (Site Acceptance Test), testing
WAN/LAN performance and verifying video/audio quality. The final stage is the
performance of the End to End testing together with the appropriate uplink facility and
Triumph Comms (longhaul contractor). Typical transport method was via DS3, but at
times a temporary uplink truck was utilized.
