Zambia - Mopani Copper Mines Electrostatic Precipitator Rebuild for the Copper Smelter – Feb 2016 to July 2016 - US$1.5million

Zimbabwe - Lafarge Cement Harare Electrostatic precipitator rebuild after explosion – June 2016 – November 2016 – US$5 million

Zimbabwe - Zimplats Electrostatic precipitator annual overhauls – US$100k

Roles and responsibilities

From the time a project is secured I am involved in preparations of the key project faucets of Safety, Materials, Manpower, Machinery, Schedule, Cost and Quality to ensure that all key projects performance indicators are adequately prepared. The preparations will ensure that the construction phase of the project is according to FIDIC - Conditions of Contract for Construction (For Building and Engineering Works)

oPreparation and Review of Project Method Statements and methodologies

oPreparation and review of Project Risk Assessment for all project activities with Safety practitioners

oPreparation and Review of critical Lifting Operations, Scaffolding erections, Working at Height operations

oPreparation and review of Project resources and organogram, visa programs, accommodation, shift rosters and duty matrices for key personnel.

oPreparation and review of contractor personnel requirements, sourcing program and setting rate contracts for labour

oPreparation and review of Project tools, equipment and accessories requirement

oPreparation of Rate or Fixed contracts for outsourced equipment and tools

oPreparation and review of materials requirements for the project, procurement, cross border logistics, staging areas, laydown areas according to erection sequences

oPreparation and review of project schedule, budgets, quality control plans

oPreparation and creation of Project zones and access control areas

oConduct project kick-off meetings with client where agreements are reached on meeting schedules, kick off date

oPreparation and review of a labour Safety induction plan for personnel and contractors

oSet a project reporting structure for man-hours reporting, time spent on activities, utilization of equipment and delays

oSet up a project reporting structure for safety statistics being: near misses, job observations, loss time injury, property damage, VFL by management etc.

After project kick off, roles adapt to cover the areas below

oEnsuring that all personnel on site are inducted according to the project site requirements

oCreation of teams and gangs according to daily tasks, weekly tasks

oTraining and inducting the teams on their relevant works methods and instructions for the specific tasks to workers and other professionals

oEnsure that workers participate in the morning toolbox talk

oEnsure that all Pre-task risk assessments are done before commencement of work

oEnsure that all personnel are appraised of the Inspection, Witness and Hold Points on their tasks through their supervisors

oReview of work progression and setting of daily task performance targets.

Freda Rebecca Gold Mine suffered a catastrophic failure of their cyanide laden tanks rendering the plant operable at 50% capacity. I managed the rebuilt the plant after the collapse back to full production.

Review of the key aspects of plant that required to be rebuilt and modified to bring plant back to full capacity

Rebuilt the two 14m diameter leach tanks and modified the arrangement of the wet cyclones

Constructed an additional 14m diameter leach tank

Replaced the girth gear on the Sag mill to restore the critical speed operation requirements of the mill.
