Achievements

Took a significant role at Academy Bank in piloting the Human Resource Business Partner model (HRBP) within the local Midwest region. As a result, I become a trusted partner for many Banking Center Managers in assisting with performance management. Nominated for and successfully completed the Legacy Leadership program at Academy Bank. Successfully created a Human Resource Department from the ground up at Riverside Red-X. Manager of Associate Relations/Human Resources (10/2019 – 2/2024):

Manage staff of up to 1 Sr HR Generalist, 3 HR Generalist and 2 Recruiters. This includes recruiting, hiring, and training new associates as necessary. Oversee the workflow, manage productivity, evaluate performance, provide coaching as necessary, develop associates for career growth and administer discipline when appropriate.

Ensure regulatory compliance with legal requirements and conduct periodic audits to ensure requirements are being met.

Offer feedback and assistance to management regarding policies and procedures by handling questions, mediating disputes, administering discipline, and helping to resolve work related issues.

Investigate complaints of illegal or prohibited conduct, including harassment, discrimination, retaliation, conflict of interest, etc, consulting with Legal as necessary. Write reports and recommendations on investigated matters and oversee the implementation of recommended actions.

Review and approve terminations recommended by management ensuring decisions are made fairly and consistent with policy, practice, and applicable law.

Train and support management in the administration and implementation of human resources policy & programs, including new manager orientation.

Assist with the compensation administration process, FLSA classifications, and AAP program.

Develop and deliver HR related training as needed or when requested, including comprehensive harassment training.

Support, lead and implement corporate initiatives and business unit initiatives, as assigned.

Senior Human Resource Generalist (05/2018 – 10/2019)

Human Resource Generalist (6/2015 – 5/2018)

HR Business Partner support of up to 300 associates across several corporate departments and 14 states serving as a consultant to management for Human Resource related issues. Provide consultation and problem resolution to managers and associates. Assists managers through performance management, coaching and discipline processes. Ensure compliance with Company policies and employment law. Offer feedback and assistance to management regarding policies and procedures to ensure compliance at all levels.

Conduct new associate human resource orientation. Assist management through the new associate on-boarding experience.

Conduct internal investigations of EEO, management style, and/or interpersonal conflict. Work closely with the Bank Security Officer to review security video during investigations and, at times, act as an unbiased witness to interviews conducted by the BSO. Prepare and deliver recommendations to address the behavior.

Complete requests for information from various State Unemployment offices. Represent the Company during unemployment hearings.

C. Newton Inc. dba Red-X April 2001 - March 2015

Director of Human Resources (HR Manager)

Directly supervised 2; indirectly supervised up to 165 hourly employees in 2 locations. Part of a staff, with 4 others, who reported directly to the owner, that were responsible for the day-to-day operations of the organization.

Responsible for full life cycle of Human Resources to include recruiting; interviewing; pre-employment drug screening and criminal background checks; extending job offers; perform new hire orientation; process weekly payroll; managed the employee performance review process; advise supervisors during disciplinary action; advise company owner and management regarding personnel changes; and observe termination interviews.

Develop and update company policies and employee handbook, as needed, and facilitate annual harassment training. Ensure compliance with policies, Federal, State, and local employment laws.

Administer employee benefit programs including medical/dental/vision/life insurance; supplemental voluntary coverage; and 401(k). Work closely with benefit brokers to collect census information; determine the best plan offerings and premiums for the company; and arrange for annual open enrollment meetings. Notify COBRA administrator of employee termination. Responsible for timely filing of the 5500 for the company 401(k) plan.

Responsible for FMLA administration and other leave coordination.

Responsible for Worker’s Compensation claims and OSHA reporting. Ensure injury reports were completed in full; ensure surveillance video was available and sent to carrier; and work closely with adjuster to obtain witness statements. Ensure injured employees received the necessary treatment from the provider. Worked closely with physicians on treatment programs to return employees to work as soon as medically able. Develop a return-to-work program for those released to light-duty.

Work closely with property/casualty broker to ensure property was covered adequately in the event of loss as well as ensure proper coverage for worker’s compensation, employment practice liability as well as general liability coverage. Also, worked closely with insurance adjuster at the time of claim to ensure all documentation was complete and submitted in a timely fashion.

Respond to all unemployment claims and represent the company during telephone hearings.

File annual EEOC reports.
