ABOUT ME
I am a 28-year-old Mosotho woman living in Lesotho. I hold a Bachelor of Science degree in General Nursing and Midwifery from the National University of Lesotho, which I obtained in July 2020. Since graduating, I have been working as a General Nurse in the Intensive Care Unit since 30th of March 2021 at Queen Mamohato Memorial Hospital. I have gained valuable experience in this field, having worked in the ICU for 3 years.
I am a passionate nurse, I am enthusiastic about the opportunity to take on new challenges, grow professionally, learn new skills, and expand my network. I am willing to undergo training and professional development . Duties and responsibilities
Equipment used
I work in ICU which has bed capacity of 10 beds and a ventilator per bed
Non invasive and invasive Ventilation with savina 200 ventilators using SIMV,CPAP and Ac mode,manipulation of sets as per patient’s current condition, oral care of patients with endo tracheal tubes.
Correct use of oxygen therapy :venturi masks, rebreather and non rebreather mask, nasal prongs and face masks.
Carrying out 12 leads ECG
Monitoring patients on monitors using 3 leads and 5 leads
Care of patients on abdominal drainages
Care of inter coastal drainage tube (appropriately discarding collected fluid and mounting the drainage.
Sedation of patients in ICU mainly with domicum, propofol, ketamine, fentanyl and diazepam.
Use of syringe pumps and infusion pumps
Using special ICU chart and developing care plans daily
Cardio Pulmonary resuscitation .
Tracheostomy care.
Preparation for insertion of central venous line and intubation.
blood transfusion.
Cannulation .
