This program was different than typical lecture based learning, it was a problem based learning format where we approached learning via case-study and problem solving. My wife endured myflying to Ft. Lauderdale from Texas panhandle as she kept our boys for 90 weekends over the 3 year grad program.

SKILLS

It is easier to say what I don’t have - I do not hold a certification or specialty in Manual therapy, however; I can utilize the techniques when the need arises. I apply Functional Therapeutic Activities and Exercise in a manner that allows the patient to joint mobilize through the activities that

CORE BELIEFS and MY APPROACH to HEALTH CARE

I am efficient in injury prevention and all types of joint rehabilitation whether a result of degeneration, trauma or neurological episodes.

I encourage exercise, nutrition and weight management as I have very much “bought into” and apply in my own life. The weekly exercise demands which I encourage in my patients are key to managing injuries orimpairments in their future. “If you don’t practice what you preach then what kind of a preacher are you”?

Since I have owned and operated an outpatientPT clinic for 16 years I am very much aware and sympathetic to the inner workings and what is required to maintain a practice. I teach them (teaching the patient to be more independent in treating their own impairment rather than depending on someone else to manage their condition)

I am not trained in dry needling.

I have little to no experience with pediatric neuro-development.

I work well with others and understand that a practice is only as good as its weakest link so I go out of my way to try to understand those around me and thus create a win/win situation if possible.

Diabetes is so drastically affecting ourculture, I have given special attention to the physiology of different forms of exercise and which types are most valuable in diabetic health and fitness. This is an area that I hope to specificallypractice at some point in my career.

Exercise as “Preventative Medicine” is another platform that I am passionate about, training up patients to be responsible in continuing their plan of care after discharge so they will build confidence in establishing the changes needed for a better quality of life.

ACTIVITIES

I am very involved in my church and family outside of work, I play drums on the praise team and my wife

and I host or attend bible study. I have three children and two grandchildren that keep my wife and I very busy with football games, soccer ect. I make myself available for anyone that has questions about physical therapy outside of work as well; it is a passion for me and a way of life not just an 8-5 job.

I have known my wife for 32 years and have been married for 28. She has helped me in our practice at In Motion Physical Therapy and also at Texas Pain and Spine for over 15 years.
