I ensure all hazardous waste containers are properly marked with the compliant environmental
labels and drop dates. Keep a clean work area to reduce the possible event of a hazardous
waste spill. Also ensure that shelf-life dates are up to date the waste material and followed
properly by the 4140.27M. Under normal supervision, conducts research to determine the
identification of material, while verifying the accuracy of the accompanying documentation.
Distinguish the condition of material and utilize automated systems. Perform examining and
identifying duties for complex categories of materials and equipment to determine positive
identification and classification.
On a weekly basis, I make sure the waste is in the proper containers and report any violations
to my Leader or Supervisor. Move material to various work areas, I do general administration
processes, completes assignments and projects independently. I handle problems and
deviations according to instructions, policies, and prior experience and training, ability to
conduct searches for information in FEDLOG and GCSS. I have thorough knowledge of the
techniques and equipment used in the examination and classification of standard, unusual, and
highly specialized items. Filling out, posting, filing, controlling or coding documents and
transactions, familiar with terminology, forms and codes; knowledgeable with the documents
and records associated with receiving, storing, issuing, replenishing and inventory control.
Assign coding classifications to the most complex components, items, and equipment to insure
all safety procedures and requirements are followed. Monitors information regarding supply
status and arrival dates; maintaining bench/ shop
stock files and records verifies material
throughout processing, in-storage operations and
performs cyclical verification inspections to
determine if established procedures, specifications and methods are being complied with.
I unpack and visually inspect material for apparent and obvious damage, and repack after
proper condition coding is accomplished within applicable procedures. If I can't figure out the
procedures on my own, I will refer to guidance from the SOP's (Standard Operating Procedures)
or LOI's (Letter of Instruction) or utilize the knowledge of my Supervisors and Leaders. I have
operated a gas, electric, diesel forklift, car loader, plane loader and rough terrain forklifts. I
operate forklifts to move, load and unload, transfer and transport, stack/unstack palletized
items, boxes, carts, merchandise. I have been trained to properly use each forklift safely. Under
normal supervision, I have performed limited preservation and packing of a variety of parts,
materials, equipment and other items. I select the appropriate packs and materials to pack
and/or repack items into cartons, boxes, cushioned envelopes, metal containers, crates, etc.
Visually inspects items received to determine and verify positive identification and
classification. (Items inspected include but are not necessarily limited to clothing, materials,
parts, components, subassemblies, assemblies, components, kits, etc.) Uses standard, precision
measuring devices such as micrometer and dial indicator. Completes official receiving
documents, assuring valid assignment of shelf-life expiration dates, identification data, and
condition codes. Prepares and stamps materiel identification and condition tags, and executes
receiving documents by signature and/or final inspection stamps.
While working as a packer, on a daily basis I worked with the MEIs. I helped the MEI perform
examining and identifying duties for complex categories of materials and equipment to
determine positive identification and classification. Examine items to ensure proper marking,
tagging and labeling. Also assisted in assigning coding classifications to the most complex
components, items, and equipment.
