Mr. Biegenzahn is a skilled attorney with excellent educational credentials, diverse practice experience, and, an impeccable reputation. He has represented hundreds of corporate and individual debtors, and has confirmed reorganization plans in over sixty bankruptcy cases in various industries. He has done in and out of court workouts, appeared before all central district bankruptcy judges, and has also done state and federal court litigation and appellate work. Several cases have taken him to federal courts in Colorado, Delaware, Michigan, Oklahoma, the District of Columbia, and New York.
In addition to a notable career in the courtroom, Mr. Biegenzahn has experiences such as being the administrative head of the bankruptcy department at a major firm; a member of the hiring committee; shareholder liaison to associates' committee; chairman of continuing education committee; and member of the practice management committee. He has managed all facets of an insolvency and litigation practice including administrative and financial responsibilities.
Mr. Biegenzahn has served as a court-appointed mediator for the past 23 years. He was also named a “Super Lawyer” from 2012 through 2020, a distinction bestowed on less than 5% of lawyers. Since the onset of the COVID 19 pandemic, Mr. Biegenzahn has assisted several firms with niche work outside the bankruptcy realm. Mr. Biegenzahn was commissioned in 1971 and began active duty as 1st Lieutenant, in the U. S. Marine Corps in 1975. He was honorably discharged as Captain in 1978 after service with the Office of the Judge Advocate General (JAG). While with JAG at Camp Pendleton, he developed significant expertise in Criminal Law (Military Justice) and Administrative Law. Over the years, Mr. Biegenzahn has worked with notable clients in the context of insolvency counseling and litigation. These include: The creditors' committee in the TWA chapter 11 case; Carl Icahn in connection with his equity position in related Denver, Colorado chapter 11 cases; Macmillan Ring Free Oil Company as debtor in possession before the Bankruptcy Court in the Central District of California; and, years later in that same Court, Mr. Biegenzahn represented Anna Nicole Smith in her successful chapter 11 case.
