Additionally, as a Police Officer, I have assured the protection of life and property and the prevention of crimes in the role. As the Interim Police Chief, I have planned, organized, directed, and controlled activities and personnel of the Calexico Police Department. I have assured the protection of life and property and the prevention of crimes in the role. I have directed the police department operations in crime prevention, law enforcement, public relations, border patrol issues, and related functions. I have been able to supervise and evaluate the performance of the Calexico Police Department personnel. As the Interim Police Chief for the Calexico Police Department, I am responsible for the following:

•Provided as a liaison for the Calexico Police Department and the Cityof Calexico in many issues of human resources (i.e. Hiring, Vacation, Family Medical Leave Request, Military Leave, workers compensation claims, hiring, and several human resources administration Duties).

•Assisted the U.S. Secret Service in coordinating security, coordinating federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies, and identifying a safe and secure route for the President and Vice-President of the United States.

•Prepared, managed, monitored expenses, and evaluated the department's 5.5 million dollars annual operating budget to include budgeting for overtime for planned special events or personnel shortages.

•Developed, coordinated, planned, organized, controlled, evaluated, and directed the activities and personnel of the Calexico Police Department.

•Met with staff, City officials, citizens, and others regularly to discuss day-to-day problems, develop strategies to resolve future problems, and ensure maximum benefit from available resources.

•Ensured fiscal responsibility and cost consciousness in preparing the department’s budget.

•Conducted yearly audits and inventories of the Calexico Police Department controlled items (i.e. evidence, firearms, vehicles, and firearms ammunition)

•Completed several audits on the police records management and prepared reports for city, county and state regulatory agencies.

•Developed a fleet maintenance program for the maintenance of marked police vehicles, undercover police vehicles and administration vehicles.

•Prioritized the repairs of critical vehicles and created a vehicle replacement schedule by tracking milage, vehicle damage and safety inspection drastically reducing maintenance cost.
