HEALTH AND PHYSICAL EDUCATION, WHAT I’M PROUD OF…
What? Kindergarten – Second, “ABC Fitness” curriculum. I developed this after I took a graduate level reading class (U.V.A) in reading instruction (2008). It will one day be a book.
Why? These lessons emphasize the importance of reading and performing thereby enhancing vocabulary.
How? Although it is impossible for me to measure the effectiveness of improving reading skills, I do see teachers using the same words and movements to help students learn to read. This is the kinesthetic approach to learning. I can, informally, measure the effectiveness of memory retention through a question-and-answer session.
OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY ASSISTANT, WHAT I’M PROUD OF…
What? I once treated a quadriplegic who was nonverbal but had reasonable neck mobility. I developed a laser light gadget for
her to communicate.
Why? I just had a feeling that this student was able to learn and communicate. I researched and implemented a homemade
device.
How? For this student, a professionally made laser light device was purchased to improve her communication skills.
