PERSONAL STATEMENT
Richard Antwi has over 5 years cumulative work experience in data science and analytics, GIS, transportation, and energy industry. He is currently in his final year of his PhD program in Civil Engineering with a focus in Transportation Data Science at FAMU-FSU College of Engineering and a researcher at Resilient Infrastructure and Disaster Response (RIDER) center. Throughout his academic career, he has gathered vast experience in data science and analytics, machine learning, geospatial information technology, remote sensing, and land surveying and mapping. Presently, he is undertaking academic research in using Artificial Intelligence (AI) to identify and extract road geometry data from aerial imagery, which is a major component in transportation data science and Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) for smarter and safer mobility. Richard also has experience and skills in GeoAI, spatial data collection, processing, analysis and modelling, technical report writing, and statistical data collection and sampling. With these skills, he has undertaken several research projects using Machine Learning and GIS models to solve real life issues in transportation system resilience and management, energy distribution and management, health and community safety, crime, and security. Richard is the lead graduate student and research assistant for two externally funded research projects by the Florida Department of Transportation. Aside from these, he has undertaken several roles in GIS software tutoring and mentoring, Geomatics course instruction, and GIS project consulting and advising. Richard currently has 4 published research papers (2 co-authored) and 4 research papers under review in various high impact journals in AI, ITS, transportation safety, accessibility, and resilience subject areas.
