I was the QIDP of a new concept home for Charles Lea Center. It was considered a medical model home, which housed four medically fragile individuals with intellectual disabilities. I managed the monthly budgets of the home and the residents. I was responsible for all staffing issues regarding direct care staff as well as nursing staff including work schedules, vacations, and training courses. It was my responsibility to see that the residences received regular and specialized medical care. I was also in charge of ordering products such as adult briefs, food supplements, and personal care items. I developed activities that would enrich the lives of the gentlemen who resided in the home according to their ability levels.

When I began at Greenville County Disabilities and Special Needs board, I was the coordinator over four homes containing only men. In May 2014, four more residences were added to my case load. I oversaw the total care of thirty-two men and women with varying degrees of disabilities. I monitored the physical and mental objectives that each of my consumers worked towards to elevate their current abilities. I worked with other service coordinators to obtain services such as mental health treatment, medical treatment, and other basic needs for my consumers. I monitored my consumers’ behavior support plans to modify unwanted behaviors and help them function within group settings.

I also managed forty-five staff members employed within my eight homes. I dealt with scheduling and other general staffing issues. I monitored my staff’s trainings classes, which were required by Greenville County Disabilities to care for our consumers safely and appropriately.
