Molding Supervisor / Process Engineer I started at Flex-N-Gate as the 3rd shift molding supervisor. As a supervisor I oversaw day-to-day operations, giving press assignments to operators, overseeing process techs and mold changers, and ensuring production targets were met or exceeded. Keeping the plant running efficiently and maintaining a clean and safe work environment were my number one priority. In June of 2015 I was promoted to Process Engineer. In this role, I am responsible for setting up new molds, and improving and maintaining injection molding processes. And traveling to mold tryouts and assisting tooling engineers on tooling development.

Key improvements in this time: Reduced scrap by 3%; Decreased cycle times on all molds at the facility; Optimized process setups to maximize customer allowed regrind percentages; Lowered purge consumption.

At Continental I began as a tool and die PM and repair technician. Responsibilities included repair and troubleshooting of industrial molds, transferring molds via crane or forklift, and general housekeeping duties.

Once promoted to Mold Technician / Supervisor, my duties included the setup of newly purchased tools, creating SOC’s for new tools and updating old ones for optimal cycle times, running, and troubleshooting injection molding presses, insert molding presses and vision systems and hot stamps, set up of press layouts for optimal manning, assigning press responsibilities to hourly employees, progressive discipline, tracking labor hours and performance reviews.

Reason for leaving: Layoffs during economic downturn.

At Nascote I held a Molding Technician position for approximately seven years. My duties included: Overseeing day to day operations of my Press group; Driving continuous improvement and safety and cycle time reduction; running VID’s; Setting up, running, and troubleshooting automotive dies and molds; Sonic welding, performing shrink studies; Performing in-press service on tools; Troubleshooting hydraulic and processing issues.

I have extensive knowledge of Engel Klockner Windsor, Krauss Maffei, Cincinnati Milacron, Husky, Toshiba and HPM presses, ranging from 500 to 3500 tons. Programming of Sepro 4 axis robots for part removal was also involved.

Prior to the tech job, I held a Team leader position for three years. In this role, I assigned job tasks, drafted press layouts, and mentored new employees. My number 1 priorities were 5S, cost reduction, quality and cycle time reduction.
