Residential Treatment Supervisor

Glenwood Resource Center - Glenwood, IA

February 2002 to May 2008

I was responsible for hiring and terminating staff. I was responsible for attending psychiatric rounds, medical rounds and treatment team meetings. I was responsible for 15 staff and 15 clients. I was responsible for staff being fully trained on BSP’s, current goals (I wrote) & that each one was followed as written. I trained staff on any changes that were to take affect. I was responsible that staff documented on what was expected for each shift daily. I was responsible for staff time cards, monitored FMLA hours, CNA hours & sick hours. I also worked the area office where I was responsible for 6 houses, the clients & staff. I checked in staff. Mandated staff when needed, found staff to come in early to help the mandated staff go home so they didn’t have to work another entire shift. Assisted in staffing a week in advance to cover staff who we’re on Workmans compensation, Vacation, FMLA intermediate leave (long term leave), CNA time. If staff called in sick for 3 days a head of time. I assisted in staff assistant calls. I am pretty good at verbally de-escalating an individual who appears to be in crisis. We would only go hands on when the individual would become a threat to themselves or others. I did house rounds, checked on the staff and clients making sure everyone was safe and being productive. Followed through whatever the other RTS’s asked me to do in their absence. I was responsible for the clients money that they earned from working. Organizing outings and recreational activities outside of the house and off campus. I made sure each client had hygiene supplies, clothing and anything else that they needed. I made sure the house was clean and organized at all times for safety. Taught the staff and clients to work as a team. Once this was established client behaviors went down and staff enjoyed coming back to work. I kept the same staff in the house for years. We all worked very well together. I arranged transportation & staff to take clients to their appointments off campus. I was responsible for Christmas shopping for each client

& the amount of money that I spent. I had to add up each of the clients purchases & add sales tax. The numbers had to be perfect. I wrapped all the gifts, had them ready to be handed out by the RTS that was on duty that holiday. I was assigned the office Christmas Day one year & it’s pretty amazing. Meetings with clients guardian. Produced numerous reports that were expected of me completed correctly & on time. Administered medication.
