Case Worker II, Intake Unit: Monroe County Children and Youth: 730 Phillips St., Stroudsburg, PA 18360. 2016 to present.

Responsible for investigations of Child Protective Services (CPS) and General Protective Services (GPS) referrals. Ensure the safety of children while trying to keep the family unit intact. Assess safety and risk throughout the life of the case to prevent maltreatment, neglect, or child abuse. Utilize strength-based/solution-based paradigm to ensure completion of goals in order to prevent placement. Refer families to appropriate service providers. Coordinate with various law enforcement agencies, schools, county and state agencies, and service providers. Assist in screening new referrals. Perform Urinary Drug Screens. Testify in court, prepare exhibits for trial and staff cases with CYS approved attorney. Maintain compliance within all federal, state, and agency regulations. Conduct interviews, including, but not limited to, victim, perpetrator, and collateral interviews. Build a rapport and maintain a working relationship with client base. Provide clear and concise documentation of case-related matters and submit within parameters of mandated regulations. Keep current with continuing education credits. IAHSS Certified Security Officer II/Training Officer: Pocono Medical center: 206 East Brown Street, East Stroudsburg, PA 18301. 2010 to 2013. Training Officer Duties include: The creation of policies for pat searches, personal property searches; the use of hand held metal detectors, and the detection of improvised weapons and the items used to produce them. Designing of instructor training courses to facilitate the training of other Security staff; to provide training for Emergency Department and Mental Health techs and nurses, regarding the above mentioned curriculum. The physical production of improvised weapons made from ordinary items, such as pens and latex/nitrile glove projectile launchers, plastic and Styrofoam shanks, etc…used as examples for training courses. Security Officer Duties include: The creation of a comprehensive key audit and corrective action system for over 1000 keys and corresponding locks, cutting keys to grant or deny access to proper personnel to every area of the hospital, the protection of patients, visitors, and staff from physical violence and other dangers including fires, natural disasters, and domestic and foreign terrorism. Detecting and deterring crimes, such as but not limited to; assault, vandalism, and theft. Performing verbal de-escalation techniques on agitated patients, visitors, and staff to obtain compliance and ensure safety.

Corrections Officer. Intake Unit Officer: Northampton County Department of Corrections: 666 Walnut Street. Easton, PA 18042, 2001 to 2005. Duties included processing new commitments into the prison and the prison computer system, discharging inmates from the facility, cataloging the clothing funds and personal property of new commitments to the facility, running criminal histories or background checks on residents within the facility along with civilian contractors and volunteers, processing bail pieces and funds during holidays and after hours while the criminal division is closed, and training new Officers in all aspects of the post assignment.

Mail Officer: Northampton County Department of Corrections: 666 Walnut Street. Easton, PA. 18042, 2005 to 2006.

Duties included searching and screening incoming mail for contraband such as drugs or funds as well as security threat group (Gang) information, processing money orders, producing receipts for money orders, following all accounting and accountability procedures, and inputting the outgoing inmate mail into the prison computer system. Served as second in the chain of command, subordinate to the shift Lieutenant, from February 2001 to September 2009.

Duties included the protection of the Constitutional rights of the residents; to provide care, custody and control of upwards of 900 inmates within the institution, observe and record security rounds for the mental health/suicide observation inmates on the unit, record security rounds on the entire unit twice per hour, Conduct institutional headcounts twice per shift and record and verify count has cleared and all inmates are present and/or accounted for. Also held accountable for all inmate movement within, as well as outside of the facility, many other duties too numerous to mention.

Inmate Behavioral Manager/Unit Manager: Northampton County Department of Corrections: 666 Walnut Street. Easton, PA 18042, September 2009 to March 2010. Duties included designing protocol and procedures for the implementation of the Inmate Behavioral Management (IBM) style of correctional facility operation for the Medium Custody housing unit within the institution, under the guidance of Northampton County Prison Administration. As senior officer and unit manager I pioneered this approach to correctional facility management per the request of prison administration, and instructed less senior officers in daily operations on the unit.
