Work Experience
Environmental Health and Safety Technician
Apache Industrial Services - Counce, TN
March 2024 to Present
I hired on with Apache for a short term contract, doing a month long outage at a PCA paper mill. My daily responsibilities were diverse, and provided a great opportunity to learn the industrial side of the safety business.
Confined entry permits, initial gas/air tests, safe work permits, JHA audits, Safety Audits of work performed, and confined space and working at heights training for their hands were some of my responsibilities.
It was a very successful project, finished with zero incidents/accidents, and a positive relationship with project management. Unfortunately, the company doesn't have enough hands present at the rest of their jobs to require the presence of a safety professional, so I'll be looking elsewhere for employment. Environmental Health and Safety Coordinator
Cinterra - Cheyenne, WY
April 2023 to March 2024
As a HSE Coordinator, it was my responsibility to oversee all work being performed onsite. Every morning I managed the safety/tailgate meeting, covering weekly safety bulletins, and offering advice and addressing concerns about potential safety hazards workers could be facing in the field. All orientations provided for new employees werey responsibility, which provided me the opportunity to create a strong first impression with new hands, and show them I was working FOR them, not above them. I was involved in policy decisions concerning all incidents, and learned quite a bit about the correct way to conduct incident/injury investigations.
I was tasked with PPE distribution, and ensuring the proper use of all necessary protection equipment. My paperwork was in good order, completing JHA Audits, and daily work observations, and coaching hands on how to correctly fill out JHA's, and necessary permits for the tasks at hand. I spent 98% percent of time onsite in the field, with the hands, walking alongside them, conducting JHA audits, and general safety checks; I also used this time to learn more about them on a personal level, and tried to help employees with everything I could, creating an outstanding bond with our employees, who frequently turned to me for advice and the reporting of incidents/issues. I was let go at end of site, as the company said they were moving in a different direction. Mechanical General Foreman
