Work Experience

Lead Service Writer truck side

New England Truck Center - Exeter, NH

May 2023 to Present

Heavy duty, medium duty and light duty trucks/trailers. Held the lead truck side service advisor position . Dispatching jobs to techs. Overseeing techs progress and timelines. Communicate with customer if we were not going to make a deadline or promise time. Advise customer of the progress we have made on repairs, being sure to advise promptly if truck needed further repairs and get additional approvals as per protocol. Honor quotes and estimates and ensure they are as precise and accurate as can be

( be sure to understand the repairs at hand. You don’t want to charge the customer for labor lines that are incorrect. I.e: charging a customer to r&r calipers when you already charged to r&r pads and rotors, which includes r&r/r&i of the calipers ) That will leave a bad taste in the customers mouth and make them think you are trying to overcharge them and or you are not fully educated in your position. This removes the trust the customer once had for the shop. Many repairs may overlap so always ask questions if you don’t fully understand a repair. Ensure labor and parts pricing is correct to the best of my ability. Get another set of eyes to look it over. Once estimates and repair orders are built, get authorization for work from customers. Log the name date and time of customer approving the job if verbally approving via phone. Save any Email correspondence, text messages etc if being approved via computer /phone. If in person, be sure to have the individual accept repairs and costs by signing and dating the final estimate. By getting a signature, this makes the RO a legally binding document. Ensure this individual is allowed to make company decisions before accepting this approval. You don’t want to give the “ go ahead “ to the technician and parts department and have the correct representative say that they aren’t going to pay because the wrong person approved the estimate. If needed collect a down payment at this time for any special order parts prior to starting repairs. When repairs are made and the vehicle is finished, advise customer. Turn the RO into an invoice. Upon pick up of the vehicle, the customer must pay their invoice ( unless they have terms of net30 ) in order to receive the keys for the vehicle unless otherwise discussed and planned with management.

Follow any additional protocols of the company before going forward with ordering parts and conducting the repairs. Keep the customer in the loop the whole time, which ensures a good working relationship with the customer. Advise of additional repairs, costs and time needed to complete jobs. Collect payment prior to returning the vehicle.
