Employment History

Self-Employment

2020 – Current Creative Memories - Independent Advisor

CM Group Holdings, Inc. Sauk Rapids, MN

Legal Assistant

2018 – 2022 Altizer Law, P.C. Roanoke, VA

Full-Time Employee, 40+ hours/week. Personal injury law firm specializing in automobile, motorcycle and tractor-trailer accidents and medical malpractice litigation. Cases also included products liability, slip-and-falls, divorce, traffic violations, minor criminal violations, basic wills and estates, and basic corporation set-up and filings.

During my tenure, I coordinated and managed all aspects of legal secretarial work, including answering multi-line telephones; handled all incoming mail and packages which also involved scanning everything into the computer and software systems; sending and receiving emails and faxes; research; assisting with the preparation and filing of legal documents and pleadings; scheduling meetings, depositions and traffic court hearings; travel to various courts and law offices for filing or serving of pleadings; meeting with clients and witnesses as needed; and maintaining the filing system (paperwork and case files). My work experience led to my maintaining the firm’s computer systems, as well as the ordering and maintaining of all supplies, software and office equipment (computer systems, copier, phone and fax systems, postage meter, printers, scanners, etc.).

I was the lead legal assistant for the opening of all new files which involved the initial set-up in Neos (and previously Perfect Practice), conducting research on all parties involved in the case, preparing initial letters to all parties, and requesting and follow-up for all medical bills and records, police reports, FOIA requests and traffic court dispositions; and the scheduling of court reporters. Lead assistant for requesting and follow-up for lost wages and liens from all sources (Medicare, Medicaid, the Veterans Administration, medical providers, etc.); requesting and follow-up for affidavits, subpoenaed documents, and obtaining outstanding balances for settlement and disbursement purposes. Lead legal assistant for the handling of all Medical Payments claims for our clients. I was also the lead legal assistant for the organizing and maintaining of all clients, parties and providers within the software systems, as well as the closing of all case files. In addition to managing the file room and all of its equipment, I created and implemented a complete reorganization of the file room and the case filing system for greater efficiency.

Office Administrator

2015 – 2016 SafeSide Tactical, LLC Vinton, VA

Full-Time Employee, 36-45 hours/week. I was initially contracted with SafeSide to conduct research for the development of an indoor shooting range, including research on any competitors and their offerings, which continued up to and including the implementation of the indoor range, retail store, manufacturing site, and corporate offices at a new location in Roanoke. I also researched federal and neighboring state requirements for the manufacture and sale of all firearms and ATF-related items for the purpose of expanding our customer base via a marketing center to other businesses and direct online sales to individual customers. This ongoing research led the company to extend their offer of full time employment.

My vast experience working in insurance claims and legal offices, as well as my recent retail office and sales experience, provided me with the ability to completely re-organize and manage the office with improved procedures and filing systems necessary for a more efficient and customer-friendly business as well as becoming compliant with all state and federal regulations. Procedures were streamlined and new forms and procedures were created for the handling of all gun repairs, custom work orders, special orders, and the tracking of ATF-related items.

While at the company I coordinated and managed the ordering, tracking, and handling of all store orders, banking duties, maintaining and ordering of office supplies; ensuring that all accounts were timely paid; and the shipping and tracking of all special-order and online sales orders. I assisted on the sales floor, which also included the opening and closing duties of the registers and the store, and became state-certified for the processing of all background checks for firearms and ATF-related items. In addition, I also processed, managed, and maintained the acquisition and disposition (A&D) of all firearms and ATF-related items, including those manufactured, modified, upgraded or repaired on the premises.

Upon my recommendation to the owners I created, implemented and managed a system of checks-and-balances for all background paperwork required for the sale and transfer (A&D) of all guns and ATF-related items. This system included an improved and more efficient filing and long-term storage system that was also compliant with both state and federal requirements.

I created and implemented a system to correct all acquisition and disposition records for the previous two-plus years for all store-built (manufactured) rifles to become ATF-compliant. This system properly tracked and recorded the entire manufacturing process from receipt of the initial receiver through the final building and/or sale of the completed rifle - a project which took several months to complete.

I became their first female NRA-certified instructor with certifications in several disciplines, and a NRA-certified Range Safety Officer. As such, I assisted with leading and managing those instruction courses, and also assisted with the development, improvement, and instructing of the non-NRA courses taught by SafeSide Tactical.

Department Manager / Manger-On-Duty

2007 – 2013 A.C. Moore, Inc. Roanoke, VA

Full-time Employee, 35-40 hours/week. Positions held during my tenure included starting employment as a sales associate, being promoted to inventory control specialist, and then Front-End Supervisor. I was then promoted to the custom framing manager and increased sales and improved customer service relations. As a result of that productivity, I was promoted to department merchandiser and manager which also included being a manager-on-duty.

I performed and managed all aspects of a retail environment with emphasis on providing excellent customer service; setting and maintaining planograms; cycling, ordering and stocking inventory; operating and maintaining cash register systems; opening and closing the store; assisted with cash-office duties; setting and maintaining co-worker schedules; and managing co-workers. In 2020 the company liquidated all of its assets and no longer exists.

I also served as a Board Member on these units, holding the offices of Vice President and Secretary in each organization.

I have also won two world and two national powerlifting championships for the bench press in both the USA Powerlifting (USAPL) and the 100% Raw Powerlifting Federation, as well as several regional 3-lift competitions within both organizations, and assisted with the set-up and running of those and other powerlifting meets.
