Bank Digitization Project

oThis was a transformation project that entailed converting manual processes and products to digital platforms to reduce in-branch presence, eliminate transaction processing errors, provide convenience to customers, mitigate fraud, and improve turn-around-time. Ishola worked diligently and efficiently while demonstrating in-depth understanding of the business which he translated to an excellent delivery of the project.

This was a 6-months project but was concluded in 5 months.

Improvised the use of Rapid Application Development (RAD) methodology to accomplish this project due to COVID restrictions.

Consulted with internal senior management on approval for change of methodology from Agile to RAD.

Held monthly review meetings remotely to accommodate lockdown rules.

The implementation involved a team of 12 people which included internal developers, Project Manager, UI/UX designers, client testers, and Business Analyst.

Created business requirement documents, functional requirement documents and user acceptance testing documents.

Delivered the project to scope and a month in advance.

Reduced processing times of transactions to 2mins per transaction.

Improved accuracy by 80%.

Client: Rubies Microfinance Bank

USSD (Unstructured Supplementary Service Data) Project

oThis project introduced a way for the client to service customers without a smart phone with their services. He worked with the client to narrow down their needs and categorize them into must-haves and nice-to-haves then documented them into detailed requirements.

Designed the process flow document with diagrams using MS Visio to show how each function communicates with the back-end engine (USSD Gateway).

Produced SQL scripts to fetch requisite data for each request on every page.

Worked with a team of 3 developers to build USSD gateway based on functional requirements.

Introduced client to USSD aggregators to get the best deal and service.

Prepared and presented reports, dashboards, and presentations to communicate project updates to senior management.

Client: Rubies Microfinance Bank

Real-time out-of-pattern Tracking and Filtering

oIshola conceptualized and designed a transaction out-of-pattern tracking module to enhance security on Rubies Bank’s mobile app as an option to give customers control of activities on their account. This project introduced a switch in the security settings of the app which when enabled would initiate a number of analyses to determine if the transaction(s) being initiated was suspicious or not before processing the transaction. A 9-months post go-live review showed a 98.5% drop in fraud for customers that enabled this feature.

Researched fraud transaction patterns to understand the characteristics of what makes fraud possible.

Designed the architecture document with diagrams using MS PowerPoint to show the process flow.

Built rules table to be used for analysis.

Produced SQL scripts to analyze transaction requests against defined rules.

Developed functional requirements document which the developers worked with.

Worked with the UI/UX team to design the menu item on the app using Figma for both Android and iOS deployments.

Conducted user acceptance testing (UAT)

Cloud Infrastructure Migration

oThe office had decided to move its services from on-premises infrastructure to cloud infrastructure and Ishola was tasked to manage the project. The aim was to transition all services to the AWS cloud which provided resources on demand, high availability, reduced electricity bills, cheaper infrastructure costs and smaller office space.

Worked in collaboration with the cloud architect to design the architecture of the new infrastructure.

Gathered requirements by analyzing the resource and capacity needs for the newly migrated servers and services.

Produced a work breakdown structure to show how the project is to be executed.

Worked with the network administrator to set up the integrations for API calls to external services and organizations.

Provisioned databases for different applications using either MS SQL or Dynamo DB.

Consulted with the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) to develop the Identity and Access Management (IAM) policy document used to manage user access to resources.

Established relationships with cloud providers at Amazon (AWS) and Microsoft (Azure) to accelerate migration activities and support.

Ishola was the liaison between the retail, corporate and operations departments and the IT department. He managed all the applications projects executed by the 3 departments, and his responsibilities included requirements gathering, process improvements, systems enhancements, and stakeholder engagement.

Biometric Verification Number Project

oThis was a national project by the Central Bank that captured biometric details of all bank customer and generated a unique identity which was used to track customers’ financial activities across the Nigerian banking industry to improve the Know Your Customer (KYC) process, further enhance traceability and help to reduce fraud.

Developed network integration strategy to connect 524 branches to the Central Bank

Designed the phased roll-out strategy for delivery and compliance of Biometric Verification Number devices and 2,096 PCs to 524 branches nationwide.

Managed a team of 5 technical support personnel to set up the biometric devices per region.

Trained users on functionality of the biometric capture portal and performed quality assurance on data before transmission.

Reviewed documentation on ways to integrate biometric APIs to different channels or solutions.

Presented status reports to stakeholders - bank management and the regulator (central bank).

Was recognized with a National Service Award for my contribution to the successful implementation of the project.

Instant Fund Transfer Project

oThis was a banking industry project by the Central bank which facilitated online real-time electronic fund transfer to bank customers on any electronic channel for person to person (P2P), person to business (P2B) and business to business (B2B). Ishola was responsible for all business activities from project inception to final implementation.

This implementation followed a waterfall methodology.

The implementation involved a team of 20 people which included developers, Project Manager, product manager, testers and Business Analyst.

This solution was built from scratch.

Organized a workshop to get input from stakeholders on what they expect from the system.

Created a process flow diagram showing how various systems interact with the new solution for successful transaction using Microsoft Visio.

Developed Business Requirements Document for the project working with various stakeholders.

Prepared user stories diagram to show how various users interact with the proposed system.

Produced functional specifications document working with the developers.

Organized User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and documented results.

Designed a regression test document.

6 months after implementation, failed payments were down to 0.3% from 10%.

Retail Internet Banking Web Portal Revamp

oThis project brought a whole new user experience with a modern feel, tighter security and new functionalities such as instant fund transfer, cheque deposit, loan requests, chatbot and an omnichannel integration across mobile and web.

This was a 6-months project.

Drafted comparative analysis report to show as-is and would-be improvements and benefits of the new internet banking portal.

This project involved a team of 25 people within Ecobank and developers from the vendor.

Facilitated JAD sessions between stakeholders – Retail department head (Sponsor), client experience manager, operations users, contact center users, and technology.

Ishola prepared a business requirements document.

Worked on functional requirement document to ensure the developers built to specification.

Maintained a defect register to keep track of all defects and ensure that all defects with medium and high priorities were fixed before go-live.

Created user acceptance test documents which the users tested.

Applications Rationalization Project

oDuring the bank merger, I was tasked to identify and rationalize applications used by both banks to arrive at which applications would best serve the merged bank.

This was a 6-months project.

I drew up a comparative analysis report on similar applications.

I created business requirement documents.

Prepared user acceptance test (UAT) documents for each set of application users.

Worked with the Change Management team and production support team for go-live activities.

Succeeded in trimming Annual Maintenance costs by 20%.

Workflow Implementation

oThis was an Enterprise Business Process Management System (Omniflow) that reduced printed hardcopies of account opening and/or maintenance forms and used to process requests and approvals of the bank operations. This reduced printing costs by 80% and cut operation processing times by 50%.

This was a 9-months project.

Reviewed all bank operations to identify those that could be transitioned to a workflow platform.

The implementation used was the waterfall methodology.

Designed forms to collect data for each workflow process.

Worked with a team of developers to build APIs to interface with other applications.

Developed scripts to fetch data from databases and other sources.

Deployment of Citrix XenApp 6.5

oThis was a project to implement and deploy Citrix XenApp to enable the use of client-server applications from branches across the country that normally would not work directly due to latency and lag. The alternative was to increase bandwidth nationwide, which would have been cost intensive.

This was a 3-months project.

The solution was a commercial off-the-shelf application but required configuration and customizations for the various units/department applications.

I worked with multiple vendors and developers to understand what each application required to function properly via Citrix.

This project saved the bank over $42,000/yr on internet connection costs.
