Repairing, removal, and Installation of all appliances fixtures and repairing any issues with the structure including a/c units, plumbing and electrical.

Maintenance Specialist

Hallmark Cards - Lawrence, KS

October 2021 to January 2023

Hallmark is the oldest and largest manufacturer of greeting cards in the United States, with 80% of all Hallmark cards worldwide coming from the Lawrence plant alone.

Achievements/tasks

Diagnosed all different types of presses and machinery used in the creation of greeting cards. I commonly worked with 480v, changing contacts, relays, and fuses when needed. With my machining background I specialized in machining in our department so I was the one that often made shafts and bushings when needed for presses when needed, also different types of metal work for various fixtures and safety guards, even engineering and creating custom guards for a machine that presented a potential health hazard. I mostly changed shafts and bearings and lots of sensors also. Have diagnosed lots of electrical issues, I often read a schematic and used my voltmeter to find where power is lost in a system when having electrical issues. I know the safety of working with 480v and I know safe practice and I ALWAYS wear my PPE. Ive helped with the prep and installation of new systems and wiring we have acquired while there.

Nor-Am Cold Storage - Dodge City, KS

Refrigeration/ Maintenance Technician

January 2021 to October 2021 (Left job due to relocation)

Dodge City, Kansas

Nor-Am was just opening when I worked there and we did a lot of fabrication and installation of equipment and on the processing side the whole operation was automated so I have lots of experience diagnosing PLC’s and working with all kinds of hydraulic and pneumatic and electrical systems. I also did lots of welding and I am especially good at welding stainless steel (tig). I was in charge of the large Ammonia Refrigeration system for the whole plant often being just two of us on shift at the time. We handled everything that had issues from the ice maker to the sump pump. We were in charge of the disassembly and breakdown of the large pieces of equipment used. Since everything was automated there were tons of electrical issues and I noticed most times it being sensors that got dirty, bumped, or just shorted out. I am a team player and have left my mark at that company with my signature sidewalk that I gave the initial idea for and also helped dig and lay. I had perfect attendance and left on good terms. Larry is my old boss and a great contact to vouch for my work ethic. Contact: Larry J. Smith-970-***-**** Maintenance Supervisor

Curtis Machine Co. - Dodge City, KS

June 2018 to January 2020

Achievements/Tasks

I created custom made tools such as fixtures designed to hold our gearbox with three points of contact while allowing the CNC machine to do its job. I also created seal drivers and shaft drivers that are crucial to the installation process of gearbox assembly. There were many shafts and bearing styles so I had to be able to create drivers with certain outside and inside diameter down to the nearest thousandth. Also with a mill I have literally better than pin point accuracy. I also created custom made parts for anything we were no longer able to order such as parts no longer available for some of our older HOBB lathes and many other pieces of equipment. I can pretty much create anything from raw metal down to the nearest thousandth using a lathe and a mill. I also welded and created a 9 foot stand from scrap material that was able to support a 900lb transformer then also installed it and the transformer running wire from the main panel. I also assisted in the installation and prep of a prototype of a $1 million robot that runs constantly. That’s the main reason we installed the transformer. I did tooling and maintenance and was always doing projects for my boss or helping with maintenance. Once I acquired the skills to get a better paying job I left to nor-Am. I gave my two weeks’ notice here also. I’ve also serviced CNC machines changing turrets and even panels inside the machine, and also in charge of PMing all the CNC machines and equipment in the building and calibrating all of the measurement tools and gauges and torque wrenches.
