Diagnosed Active Directory supportability issues, Exchange server data corruption problems, identified and deleted unused user and computer accounts, Exchange mailboxes, public folders, organizational units and application accounts. Prepared one forest in Plano, Texas to assimilate the user and computer accounts from another forest in San Diego, California. Worked within a highly disciplined change control process that required carefully documented changes, step by step instructions to implement the changes, backout preparations and details lists of expected results. Diagnosed Active Directory replication problems between the Plano and Tampa, Florida sites. Diagnosed and helped resolve DNS problems causing workstations to be unable to locate servers and resources. Built and maintained Vmware ESX Server to create virtual copy of production domain controllers and Exchange servers for test environment. Responsible for managing the technical resources in Microsoft Premier Support and matching those resources to the needs of the Microsoft customers. Required to understand difficult technical problems and know how and where to obtain answers to those problems and, if necessary, press for the software developers to write patches and fixes to solve problems. When a problem was so complex that it required weeks to solve, contacted the chain of command at the customer's office to ensure supervisors that all possible resources were being allocated to solving their problem. Maintained regular contact with the customer's personnel and ensured that communication flows so that Microsoft and the customer were working together to meet the customer's computing needs. Consulting assignment responsible for installing 21 NT Servers, 75 NT Workstations, and supporting Solaris Servers and Workstations, AIX server and Windows 95 Workstations. Also installed two Linux Servers using Samba to provide file and printer sharing between the UNIX and Windows environments and run the DNS services. Assisted in the design and installation of their switched Ethernet backbone, replacing previous shared Ethernet infrastructure. Installed and supported ArcServe backup software, and later replaced it with Veritas Backup Exec. Installed and supported Windows RRAS dialup servers. Installed web- based location mapping software and set up a Netware 4 server for testing Samsung Ethernet cards. Created and maintained their backup procedure for all NT Servers. Built the Solaris/Windows interoperability with Hummingbird Exceed that provided the environment on which the PCS cell phone technology was developed.

Infotrain Services, Inc. February 1996 – February 1997 Network Administrator

Installed and supported three LANs composed of seven Windows NT Server servers, a Linux proxy server, an SCO UNIX server, and 75 workstations in three locations all running Windows for Workgroups, Windows 95 and Windows NT Workstation. Installed and supported dialup connections via RRAS. Taught classes at Bell Helicopter, Texas Instruments and Infotrain locations on operating systems and MS Office applications when needed. Was also responsible for overseeing vendors and maintain all Infotrain computer hardware. Used Crystal Reports as part of the workstation software-reporting tool. Final assignment (lasting 6 months) was to Texas Instruments in the Defense Systems and Electronics Group acting as LAN Administrator for their Windows NT Servers and Workstations, and their Windows 95, UNIX and Macintosh workstations and network support. Rebuilt two of their three Windows NT servers, installed and supported McAfee antivirus, scripted NTBackup to archive their data to tape running as an “at” job.
