I worked under contract developing a functional internal web application to manager their partner relationship network. Prior to my involvement, the project started as a student project, at the University of Texas at Dallas, written in PHP and developed using a MongoDB database. I was originally hired as a LAMP developer but the project rapidly turned into a Java Spring MVC project which required a full redesign of the entire application. Before there was an iPhone or a Android smart phone I designed and developed one of the first freeware software wireless applications to acquire information about a consumer product called UPCinfo. The application had the ability to look-up product information by 12-digit Universal Price Code (UPC) number. In addition the user can add an UPC number with a description and set configuration parameters. The application was developed as a MIDlet suite using wireless Java J2ME/MIDP 1.0. The server side technology used Java Servlets to query a local database and a SOAP interface to other databases. Designed and developed a newsfeed scripting process for the proliferation of news stories for the pulp and paper industries. The process collected news information from available news sources, generated a mini-web site and FTPed the results to the customer. The process was driven by an XML based configuration that would support an infinite number of customers.
